Such <br />payment is not an increase in base salary and no <br />salary rate range applicable to any such <br />employee shall be changed or deemed to have been <br />changed by reason thereof. <br /> <br />Nevertheless, for the purpose of reporting <br />compensation to P.E.R.S., said salary payment <br />will be counted toward the employee's retirement." <br /> <br /> 4. Increasing bilingual pay by fifty dollars ($50.00) per month <br />for employees in classes represented by the P.B.A. by amending subsection <br />"B(1) of the paragraph under Section 3.1, which commences with the <br />underscored words "Bilingual Pay," to read as follows: <br /> <br />"B. Differential Amounts <br /> <br /> (1) Personnel in classes of employment represented by <br />the Police Benevolent Association (P.B.A.): $1S0 per month, effective <br />April 1, 1988." <br /> <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED: That, in addition to the salary and <br />bilingual skill pay adjustment specified hereabove, employees represented <br />by the PBA shall be granted the following employee benefit improvements: <br /> <br /> 1. Tuition Reimbursement, under the terms and conditions of the <br />existing Training and Educational Assistance Program, shall be increased <br />from one hundred seventy-five dollars ($175.00) per semester to three <br />hundred fifty dollars ($350.00) per semester, effective April 1, 1988. <br /> <br /> 2. Compensatory Time Off Benefits. An affected eligible <br />employee may, with the prior permission of his or her supervisor and <br />subject to the operational needs of the department, accumulate up to <br />eighty (80) hours of earned unused compensatory time off. Effective <br />April 1, 1988 and December 1, 1988 and twice during each calendar year <br />thereafter, on April 1st and December 1st, an affected employee having <br />accrued compensatory time off credits, may elect to convert up to forty <br />(40) hours of such accrued time off credits to the cash equivalent <br />thereof, to a maximtun of eighty (80) hours per calendar year. <br /> <br /> 3. Vacation Leave. Each affected employeeshall be afforded <br />the opportunity to submit vacation selection(s) and the appointing <br />authority shall make every reasonable effort to accommodate the <br />employee's vacation preference(s). Additionally, any affected employee <br />who is in jeopardy of losing vacation pursuant to existing policies, <br />practices and procedures governing vacation leave may administratively <br />apply to the Chief of Police for a 30-day extension beyond the normal cut <br />off date so that such employee will not lose vacation leave. <br /> <br /> <br />
