<br />On motion of Councilman Hubbard, seconded by Brewer and carried, the lowest and

<br />best bid of Sully-Miller Contracting Co~pany was accepted at the unit prices and i~
<br />the total amount of $7,595.60, and the ~ther bid rejected, i
<br />This being the date set for hearing protests on the abatament of weeds; no protests
<br />were received, and the hearing was closed. The Council having unanimously waived
<br />
<br />the reading of the Resolution, on motion of Councilman Hubbard, seconded by
<br />
<br />Schlueter and carried, the following Resolution entitled:
<br />
<br />"Resolution No. 61-111 ordering the Street Superintendent to
<br />abate the public nuisance heretofore declared by the City
<br />Council of the City of Santa ~na, to-wit: Weeds which bear
<br />seeds of a wingy or downy nature and attain such a large
<br />growth as to become a fire menace when dry and which are
<br />noxious and dangerous, growing upon certain streets, side-
<br />walks and private property in the City of Santa Aha, by
<br />having the weeds referred to removed"
<br />

<br />Appeal Application No. 21 of Elmer Fowler was presented on Variance Application No.
<br />
<br />1470, to erect an eight-unit apartment house on property at 1509 No. Ross Street,
<br />
<br />in the R-2 District, wherein Planning C~ission recommended approval, subject to
<br />
<br />conditions. Applicant appeals the disqualification of parking stall No. 6 by Zon-
<br />
<br />lng Administrator on determination that it was inaccessible, and states that it is
<br />
<br />a usable stall. The Assistant Planner stated that the applicant had resolved the
<br />
<br />problem of the No. 6 Park~nE Stall and had requested withdrawal of the Appeal. On
<br />
<br />motion of Councilman Hubbard, seconded by Brewer and carried, Appeal Application
<br />
<br />No. 21 of Elmer Fowler was denied, and Variance Application No. 1470 granted, sub-
<br />
<br />Ject to conditions.

<br />On motion of Councilman Hubbard, seconded by Brewer and carried, the c~mication
<br />
<br />fram the planning Commission was received and filed, recommending approval of re-
<br />
<br />quest of Voorhees-Trindle-Nelson for the abandonment of a two-foot strip of land
<br />
<br />along the west side of Fairview Avenue, in accordance with Item "J" of Tentative
<br />
<br />Tract Map No. 3915, filed by McFadden Homes, and approved by City Council, Septemb ~e~l
<br />19, 1960, subject to conditions.

<br />The Council having unanimously waived the reading of the Resolution, on motion of
<br />
<br />Councilman Hubbard, seconded by Brewer and carried, the following Resolution entit-
<br />
<br />led:
<br />
<br />"Resolution No. 61-112 approving map and declaring intention
<br /> to vacate a portion of Fairview Street north of McFadden
<br /> Avenue and fixing hearing date thereon"
<br />
<br />as rec~amended by the Department of Public Works, and setting the date of hearing
<br />on June 5, 1961, was considered and passed by the following vote:
