32 1 <br /> <br />RESOLUTION NO. 90-087 <br />PAGE THREE <br /> <br /> Exception 1: Re-roofing of Group R, Division 3 <br />and Group M occupancies may be done with wood shingles <br />and shakes conforming to Table 32-B-2 and Table 32-C <br />if the original or existing roof covering consisted of <br />wood shingles or shakes. <br /> <br /> Exception 2: Notwithstanding the provisions of <br />Section 104(b), once during any twelve-month period, <br />any existing roof covering may be replaced with the <br />same kind of covering if the replacement area does <br />not exceed fifty (50) per cent of the gross roof <br />area." <br /> <br />"Sec. 8-170. Minimum roof classes (Table No. 32-A). <br /> <br /> Table No. 32-A of the Building Code is amended in the <br />following respects. <br /> <br /> (1) Wherever the symbol NR (Nonrated roof coverings) <br />appears, it is replaced by the symbol C (Class C roofing). <br /> <br />(2) Footnote 2 is deleted." <br /> <br /> The City Council hereby finds and determines that the "Santa <br />Ana winds" conditions which occurs frequently in the local area <br />presents a special hazard of spread of fire from one rooftop <br />to another, and the above amendments are necessary to address <br />this risk. <br /> <br /> 3. Sections 8-400, 8-401, and 8-402 of the Santa Ana <br />Municipal Code amend, and will continue to amend, the Uniform <br />Plumbing Code as follows: <br /> <br />"Sec. 8-400. Water piping in buildings (Section 1008(c)(1)). <br /> <br /> Subsection 1008(c)(1) of the Uniform Plumbing Code is <br />amended to read as follows: <br /> <br />(1) <br /> <br />Non-metallic and ferrous piping shall be <br />prohibited; except that ferrous piping four <br />(4) inches and larger may be used when <br />protected against corrosion and installed <br />in channels, tubes, or in a similar protective <br />manner when approved by the administrative <br />authority." <br /> <br /> <br />
