Attorney James Rourke. <br />900 North Broadway, representing the applicant, stated this is an area where a large <br />number of the surrounding properties, including the property next door, have two <br />single family residences on one lot. ~r. Rourke presented photographs of the area <br />and on motion of Councilman Hubbard, seconded by Hei~ly and carried, the photograph~ <br />were received and filed. ~r. Rourke further stated this duplex will be an asset <br />to the area and the conditions as imposed are sgreeable to the applicant. On moti <br />of Counc~lm-~ Eeinly, seconded by Brewer and carried, the recommendation of the Z~n~_~g <br />Administrator was approved, and Appeal Application No. 43 filed by Earl Gilbert <br />denied. <br /> <br />Communication was again presented from the Planning Commission recommending approva] <br />of the proposed abandonment of the north and south alley in Block "P" South Santa <br /> <br />Aha, as requested by Cal Enterprises, who stated the abandonment was requested in <br />order to allow them to m~We full use of the land between the east line of Main StreE <br />and the west line of Cypress Avenue, as the alley does not now exist on the ground, <br />has never been improved, and has never been used as an alley; said approval of the <br />proposed vacation of the alley is made provided the owner, prior to approval of the <br />vacation agrees to certain provisions. Larry Golden, Civil Engineer, llO West <br /> <br />First Street, representing Cai Enterprises, stated a Preliminary Map has been <br />furnished the Planning Department showing the reversal of the property to acreage <br />and on December 4, 1961, a Final t~ap should be filed. The Council having unanimous <br />ly waived the reading of the Resolution, on motion of Councilman Hubbard, seconded <br />by Heinly and carried, the following Resolution entitled: <br /> <br /> "Resolution No. 61-269 approving map and declaring intention <br /> to vacate a twenty-foot alley 150 feet east of Main Street <br /> and beginning 170 feet south of Central Avenue" <br /> <br />setting the date of hearing on December 18, 1961, was considered and passed by the <br /> <br />following vote: <br /> <br />Ayes, Courts41 men <br /> <br />Noes, CounciLmen <br />Absent, CounciLmen <br /> <br /> Royal E Hubbard, Henry H. Hall <br /> None <br /> None <br /> <br />It was moved by Councilman Heinly, seconded by Brewer and carried, that Variance <br />Applicabion No. 1562, filed by Carl Belvedere, to construct a medical center and <br />emergency hospital on the northeast corner of Edinger Avenue and Center Street, be <br />brought up on Appeal. <br /> <br />Communication was pressured from the Planning Department recommending denial of <br />Preliminary Record of Survey Map No. 222, filed by Harvey A. Sprague, creating four <br />lots located between Broadway and Birch Street and immediately north of Central <br />Avenue. On motion of Councilman Heimly, seconded by Brewer and carried, ~helmatter <br />was continued until the next meeting. <br /> <br />Communication was presented from the Planning Department recommending denial of <br />Preliminary Record of Survey Map No. 223 filed by W. J. Patillo creating four lots <br />located between Birch Street and Broadway and appro~fm-tely 300 feet north of <br /> <br />Central Avenue.
