<br />This being the date set for hearing on Amendment Application No. 379, initiated by

<br />the Planning Commission, amending Sectional District Map 7-5-9, to reclassify frc~

<br />erty on both sides of Grace Street between Linwood Avdnue and Washington Place, all!

<br />as shown on Exhibit A.A. 379A; Attorney Walter Steiner, 309 First Western Bank
<br />
<br />Building, representing Mr. and Mrs. Robert D. Dunning, Mr. and Mrs. Paul F. Ditzler!,
<br />
<br />Mr. and Mrs. Clair Coffing, Mr. and Mrs. W.B. Piper, and Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Smith,
<br />owners of the property involved, stated his clients have owned their property from
<br />12 to 20 years, and there was a request on the part of people who have R-1 property
<br />
<br />to have the property of his clients rezoned, and that his clients did not wish
<br />their property rezoned to R-4. Mr. Steiner presented pictures, and stated with the
<br />
<br />unsightly R-3 apartments across the street, no one would develop the subject prop-
<br />
<br />erty into garden apartments, and it would be almost impossible to develop the prop-i
<br />
<br />erty R-1 or R-2 because the lots are 260 feet deep. Keith Johnson, lllO North
<br />
<br />Linwood Avenue, stated they preferred to keep two or three story apartments out of
<br />this area. Mr. Southard, 1325 Grace Street, stated his property has been excluded
<br />
<br />since the original petition was signed. On motion of CounciLman Hubbard, seconded

<br />Commission, was denied, to reclassify from the R-3 District to the R-l, R-2 or R-4
<br />Districts, or any combination thereof, property on both sides of Grace Street be-
<br />tween Linwood Avenue and Washington Place.

<br />Councilman Heinly left the meeting at approximately 9:10 P.M.
<br />
<br />Communication was presented from the Planning Cw~ission recom~nending approval of
<br />proposed street name change of Sugar Avenue to McFadden Avenue. On motion of Coun-
<br />c]lm~n Hubbard, seconded by Schlueter and carried, the communication was received

<br />The Council having unanimously waived the reading of the Resolution, on motion of
<br />Councilman Hubbard, seconded by Schlueter and carried, the following Resolution

<br />On recc~mendation of the Planning Department and on motion of Councilman Hubbard,
<br />
<br />seconded by Schlueter and carried, the following conditions were imposed on Vari-
<br />
<br />ance Application No. 1583, filed by Garden Grove Development Co., to build a one-
<br />story 12-unit apartment house in the R-1 District, on property on the west side of
<br />
<br />the 900 block South Shelton Street, granted by Resolution No. 62-18, adopted Febru-i
<br />
<br />ary 5, 1962:
<br />
<br />That the owner place curb, gutter and sidewalk and pave to edge of
<br />existing pavement on Shelton. The new curb and gutter is to be
<br />placed 18 feet west of the center line of Shelton.
<br />
<br />2. That all improvements be placed to City of S~nta Ana standards.
<br />
<br />That the owner submit to the Department of Public Works a final drainage
<br />plan for the property involved in this application including existing
<br />elevation on the north property Ilne.
