Hall <br /> <br />Appeal Application No. 62 was presented on Conditional Use Permit No. 104, filed <br />by Greschner Investment Co., to erect a temporary directional sign in the R-2 and <br />R-1 Districts, at 1138 East 17th Street, wherein the applicant appeals the denial <br />of the Zoning Administrator. C~am~nication was presented from Union Sign Co. re- <br />questing the withdrawal of Appeal Application No. 62, and the reikmd of the $15.00 <br />appeal fee, if possible. On motion of Councilman Heinly, seconded by Brewer and <br />carried, the ccmmaunication was received and filed, the request of Union Sign Co. <br />approved, and Appeal Application No. 62, filed by Greschner Investment Co. was wit~ <br />~x~m~.and no refund to be made. <br /> <br />Cr..---Anication was presented from Mrs. Clara E. Vose, 1320 Memory Lane, requesting <br />another three year extension on Variance Application No. 3~9, granted in 1953 for <br />three years, for a real estate office at 1320 Memory Lane; and stating no changes <br />have been made on the property and none are anticipated. On motion of Councilman <br />Brewer, seconded by Schlueter and carried, the request was approved, and a three- <br /> <br />year extension granted on Variance Application No. 3h9, filed by Mrs. CLara E. 'Hicks, Oolema~-Hicks: Corporati0n~ 1t2S <br /> <br />questing an audience with the Council regarding dedication of property and alley <br /> <br /> improvements, reference Variance Application No. 1~9, granted March 6, 1961, to <br /> six - <br />construct a ~ %unit apartment building at 501 Cypress Avenue; and Variance Applica- <br /> <br />tion No. 1609, filed February 16, ~62, to construct a six-unit apartment building <br />on the southwest corner of North Van Ness Street and Washington Avenue. Gor~o~ M. <br />Hicks, 1123 East llth Street, stated the Planning Department has required the dedi- <br />cation of a strip 15 feet by 132½ feet for the widening of Washington Avenue, and <br />the improvement of the alley, as conditions of approval on Variance Application No. <br />1609, which the applicant is willing to do; but the Planning Department will not <br />grant the Variance until the alley at 501 Cypress Avenue has been improved, which <br />alley improvement was one of the conditions of approval on Variance Application No. <br />14~9, and as the alley improvement was approved by an employee of the Department of <br />Public Works, a notice of completion was filed, and the building has since been <br />sold. Mr. Hicks further stated it was not reasonable to deny one Variance Applica- <br />tion on the basis that a condition of improvement had not been met on another Vari- <br />ance Application. On motion of Councilmau Heinly, seconded by Brewer and carried, <br />the communication was ~eceived and filed, and the matter referred to the Planning <br />Department f~r appropriate action. <br /> <br />C ....... ~nication was presented from the Planning Department recommending approval of <br /> <br />Revised Preliminary Record of Survey 249, filed by Dcxander P. Leonard, creating <br />and combining lots located on the north side of Memory Lane approximately 1,000 <br />feet east of Bristol Street, subject to conditions. Tom Ridgw~y, $201 Wilshire <br />Boulevard, Los Angeles, stated, with regard to Variance 1627, that the Planning <br />Department and Department of Public Works have reviewed the three schemes presente~ <br />for the revision of Pre~tmtuary Record of Survey 2~9, and recon~ended disapproval <br />of Scheme 3, since the extension to the north of this street would require <br /> <br /> <br />
