<br />Brewer, seconded by Hubbard and carried, the reportpresented by Mr. Mayes was re-~
<br />ceived and filed. On motion of Councilman Hubbard, seconded by Brewer and carried
<br />the comm~uication frem the Traffic Engineer, Automobile Club of Southern Californi
<br />was received and filed, requesting that the new signal installed to control traffi
<br />on Edinger Avenue, near Smedley Junior High School and Diamond Elementary School,
<br />be of the standard design for traffic control signals in accordance with the best
<br />current practice; and that the traffic signal be of the type that its use by pedes
<br />trians, as well as motorists on the side street, creates the least possible delay
<br />to the main flow of traffic. It was moved by Councilman Brewer that the proper
<br />authorities be instructed to proceed with the installation of the traffic signal
<br />as recommended by the Manager.. and the Department of Public Works, and in addition
<br />the construction of a pedestrian walkway along the south side of Edinger Avenue
<br />frcm the existing service station at Greenville Street and Edinger A~enue to the
<br />Frosty Freeze at the southwest corner of Edinger Avenue and Center Street, to be
<br />replaced by a standard city sidewalk when the streets are improved, and that the
<br />school boy patrol be used in conjunction with the new signal. Motion lost for lac
<br />of a second. It was moved by Councilman Heinl,v, and seconded by Brewer, that a
<br />fully actuated signal be placed at the intersection of Edinger Avenue and Green-
<br />ville Street.

<br />On motion of Councilman Hubbard, seconded by Schlueter and carried, proper offi-
<br />cials were authorized to execute agreement with the County extending for one year
<br />the Agreement, dated July 5, 1962, covering services furnished by the County for
<br />soil and material control tests for the fiscal year 1962-63.

<br />On motion of Councilman Hubbard, seconded by Schlueter and carried, proper offi-
<br />cials were authorized to execute Permit No. 09062 with the 0ra~e County Flood
<br />Control District, granting permission for the City to deposit fill material onthe
<br />district's levee of the Santa Ana River, at approximate Engineer's Station 108+16,~
<br />for the proposed Fairview Street Bridge Crossing.

<br />On motion of Councilman Hubbard, seconded by Schlueter and carried, proper offi-

<br />eial~re authorized to execute Notice of Renewal of Lease N0y(R)5765~, dated
<br />
<br />May 25, 1962, with the Marine Corps Air Station, E1 T~ for the east one-half
<br />
<br />of building known as T-12, 1030 West Eighth Street, C~munity Center, for the peri
<br />od beginning July l, 1962, and ending June 30, 1963, for use by the Shore Patrol.
<br />On motion of councilmau Hubbard, seconded by Schlueter and carried, the Application
<br />with the Pacific Electric Railway Company for Permit, dated June 13, 1962, to con-
<br />struct, reconstruct, maintain and operate an industrial drill track at grade
<br />across that portion of Huntzlnger Avenue, which is approximately 1197 feet easter-
<br />ly of Harbor Boulevard, and located partially in the City and partially in Costa
<br />Mesa, was referred to the Department of Public Works.

<br />On motion of CounciLman Hubbard, seconded by Schlueter and carried, proper offi~
<br />cials were authorized to execute Lease No. 18282, dated May 29, 1962, with Pacific
<br />Electric Railway Cc~pany, for the construction, maintenance and operation of a tez
<br />inch sewer line under their tracks near west property line of Orange County Flood
