'SIGN ENCROACHMENT On motion of Councilman Hubbard, seconded <br /> ~ by Councilman Schlueter and carried, <br /> · ~ Council authorized execution of an <br /> agreement to remove encroachment from <br />setback area with Fairfax Sign Company, Santa Ana Realty, and Victor C. <br />Alleman, for sign at 606 West 17th Street. <br /> <br />STREET IMPROVEMENTS On motion of Councilman Hubbard, seconded <br /> by Councilman Schlueter and carried, <br /> Council authorized execution of an <br /> agreement with Santa Ana Unified School <br />District relative to construction and cost for street improvements adjacent <br />to McFadden Jr. High School and LincoLn Elementary School. <br /> <br />~.MATERIALS TESTING On motion of Councilm~u Hubbard, seconded <br /> by Counc~lm~n Schlueter and carried, <br /> Council authorized execution of an <br /> agreement with the County of Orange for <br /> materials testing through 1963-64 Fiscal Year. <br /> <br />,d~:f' PLANNING COMMISSION <br /> APPOINTMENT <br /> <br />It was moved by Councilman Harvey, <br />seconded by Councilman Hubbard and <br />carried, that Everett Parks be appointed <br />to fill the vacancy created by the <br />resignation of Malcolm Smith. <br /> <br />SHOEMAKER CLAIM Acting on the recom~endation of the <br /> City Attorney, it was moved by <br /> Councilman Hubbard, seconded by <br /> Councilman Schlueter and carried~ <br />that the Council deny the claim of Clyde Shoemaker relative to damages <br />to real property by reason of unlawful seizure for dam site. <br /> <br />17TH STRzm"±' PARKING <br />MANAGER'S REPORT <br /> <br />The City Manager reported on his meeting <br />with the businessmen of 17th Street, <br />regarding the parking limitations along <br />17th Street, and outlined a three-point <br />program as follows: <br /> <br />An experiment with short-term parking zones and stalls on streets <br />entering into 17th Street from the north and south. Only 24 minute <br />and one hour parking would be permitted, thereby eliminating the <br />all day parking. <br /> <br />2. An investigation of the possibility of actually widening the south <br /> side of 17th Street between Bush and Spurgeono <br /> <br />A study of the other areas, on the north and south sides of 17th between <br />Main and Broadway to evaluate the possibility of a construction project <br />which would place new curbs and gutters in this area, reduce the side- <br />walk width, and still provide necessary drainage, with the reco~endation <br />that the expense involved be undertaken by the abutting properties. <br /> <br />On motion of Councilm~u Hubbard, seconded by Councilman Schlueter and carried, <br />the Manager's report was received and ordered filed; and authorization was <br />granted to proceed with the preparation of design specifications for the <br />~south side of 17th Street between Bush and Spurgeon. <br /> <br />City Council - 107 - May 20, 1963 <br /> <br /> <br />
