( Co~I t i:n~ ed ) <br /> <br />Anthony Paladino, Orange, presented pictures <br />of other signs in the area of similar size. <br /> <br />Robert Stopher, 1251 E. l~th Street, and <br />Robert J. Grey, 1326 N. Eastwood, spoke <br />in opposition to the sign. There being <br />no further testimony the hearing was <br />closed. <br /> <br />On motion of Councilman Harvey, seconded by Councilman Schlueter and carried, <br />Council sustained decision of the Planning C~ission and denied Appeal 86. <br /> <br />Vice-Mayor Hubbara opened the hearing on Appeal 87 filed by Louis B. Minter, <br />requesting waiver of right of way dedication imposed by Planning Co~n~ission as a <br />condition to approval, of Variance Application 1773- Gene Maxwell, 107 W. 6th' Street, <br />representing Louis B. Minter, appellant, submitted photographs in support of his <br />appeal, noting that the dedication would cost the appellant and the City two or <br />three parking spaces. Tl~e appellant suggested that an agreement be executed which <br />woui.d require the appellant to pay the cost of moving the sign in the event the <br />City decides to condemn the five-foot strip. There being no further testimony, <br />tne hearLing was closed. On motion of Councilman Harvey, seconded by Councilman <br />C:il~nore aaa carried, Council instructed the City Attorney to prepare a resolution <br />overruling tr~e Fiauning Commission deleting the conGition requiring five-lOot <br />right of way deification on Grand Avenue provided the applicant enters into an <br />agreement co remove 'the encroaching sign at no cost to the City. <br /> <br />~EAt~ING - APPEAL 8) Vice-Mayor Hubbare opened the hearing <br />~['~l'~ continued irom June 3, 1963. The City <br /> Council received a report that the Plann- <br /> ing Commission in its reconsideration <br />of Variance application 1752 had approved the variance to convert a single family <br />residence into ousiness office facilities at 819 Spurgeon. The hearing was then <br />closed and no further action taken. <br /> <br />H~k~IN,] - AMEND. Vice-Mayor Hubbard opened the hearing on <br />~PP. 443 Amendment Application ~3 initiated by <br /> the Plannin4 Commission to reclassify <br /> ~ from the R 2 to the R 2 B District <br />properuy located ~ the south si~e of 18th Street between Broadway and Jefferson <br />Place. There being no response to the call for testimony, the hearing was closed. <br /> <br />On motion of CounciLman Gilmore, seconded by Councilman Harvey and carried, the <br />City Council spproved the reclassification and directed the City Attorney to <br />prepsre an amending ordinance according to Exhibit <br /> <br />HE~EING - AMEND. Vice-Mayor Hubbard opened the hearing on <br />APP. ~h2 Amendment Application 442 filed by Dr. <br /> Lock Gee Ding to reclassify frc~ the R 1 <br /> ~ to the P District property located on the <br />west side of Broadway between Edinger and Pomona. There being no response to the <br />call ~or testimony, the bearing was closed. <br /> <br />On motion of Councilman Harvey~ seconded by Councilman Gilmore and carried, the <br />City Council approved the reclassification and instructed the City Attorney to <br />prepare an amending ordinance according to Exhibit AA <br /> <br />City Council <br /> <br />June 17, 1963 <br /> <br /> <br />
