the possibility of the purchase <br />by the City of property located <br />on northeast corner of intersection of Washington and Broadway. It was <br />moved by Councilman Burk, seconded by Councilman Gilmore and carried, that <br />the matter be referred to the Staff for study and report back to Council <br />at next meeting. <br /> <br />DOWNTOWN PARKING DIST. On motion of CounciLman Burk, <br /> /? seconded by Councilman Markel and <br /> carried, Council ordered filed <br /> report from the Committee of <br />Downtown Property Owners bated March ~, 1966. <br /> <br />S. MAIN RAMPS Councilman Markel reported that <br /> ~ the Highway Commission received a <br /> staff reco~nendation for denial <br /> of Santa Ana's request for off <br />and on ramps to connect South Main to the Newport and San Diego Freeways, <br />but had granted his request for a postponement of decision. <br /> <br />RECESS At 4:10 p.m., the meeting recessed <br /> until 7:30 p.m. At 7:30 p.m., the <br /> meeting reconvened with all <br /> Councilmen present. After the <br />pledge of allegiance to the flag, the Invocation was delivered by The <br />Reverend Ralph R. King, Johnson Chapel Methodist Church. City Manager <br />Carl J. Thornton was present at the evening session. <br /> <br />COMMENDATION A certificate of ccmm~endation was <br /> ~& presented byMayor Harvey to <br /> Harry W. Jones~ Parks Department <br /> employee, for saving the life of <br />a 4 year old child who had fallen into a swimming pool on April 21, 1966. <br /> <br />HEARING - Hearing was opened on Amendment <br />AA 588 - DUHART Application 588 filed by Ruth M. <br />~ DuHart proposing the amendment <br /> of Sectional District Map 8-5-9 <br />by reclassifying from the R i to the C 5 district property on the south side <br />of 17th between Linwood and Concord. Planning Commission Resolution 5777 <br />recon~nended approval of Exhibit B which would reclassify to the C 5 and R i B <br />districts. The Clerk reported that notice of the hearing was published in <br />The Register, with affidavit of publication on file, and no communications <br />received. There being no response to the Mayor's call for testimony, the <br />hearing was closed. <br /> <br />It was moved by Councilman Burk, seconded by Councilman Herrin and carried, <br />that Council approve the reclassification and instruct the City Attorney <br />to prepare an amending ordinance according to Exhibit B. <br /> <br />HEARING - Hearing was opened on Amendment <br />AA 589 - LOWEEY Application 589 filed by Kenneth <br />il Lowery proposing the amendment <br /> of Sectional District Map 23-5-10 <br />by reclassifying from the R 2 to C 5 district property on the south side of <br />Edinger between Greenville and Fairview. Planning Commission Resolution <br />5778 recommended approval. <br /> <br />The Clerk reported notice of hearing was published in The Register, with <br />affidavit of publication on file, and no con~nunications received.
