RECESS At 5:55 p.mo the meeting was recessed to 7:30 p.m. at which time the meeting reconvened with all Councilmen present. Following the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag, the Invocation was delivered by the Reverend Larry BJorklund, Aldersgate Methodist Church. RESOLUTION OF APPRECIATION Mayor Harvey presented to ~r. George Townsend a Resolution of AppreCiation from the City Council for his 23 years of service on the Board of Recreation and Parks. AWARD An award frc~a the California Division of the American Water Works Association for an improved safety record during 1965 was presented to Mr. Elmer Austerman who represented the Water Division of the Department of Public Works. HFARING - Nearing was opened on Amendment AA 514 - ROHRS Application 514 filed by Calvin G. Rohrs proposing amendment of Sectional District Map 8-5-9 by reclassifying, from the R i to the C 5 district, property on the south side of 17th Street between Grand Avenue and Linwood Street. Planning Commission Resolution 5781 recommended denial. The Clerk reported that notice of the hearing was published in The Register on 5-27-66 with affidavit of publication on file and that a letter from the applicant had been filed requesting the application be cancelled. On motion of Councilman Herrin, seconded by Councilman Gilmore and carried, the Amendment Application was cancelled. The Clerk reported that notice of Register on May 27, 1966 with affidavit of written communications had been received. a continuance of two weeks. OLIVE-5TH ST. VACATION Hear~ was opened on the proposed vacation of Olive Street between 4th and 6th Streets, and 5th Street between Flower and a point 300' west of the center line of Olive Street. The Clerk reported that notice of the hearing was published May IL, 1966 in The Register, posted in the area on May 19, 1966 and that evidence thereto was on file; that no written communications had been filed. There being no response to the Mayor's call for testimony the hearing was closed.
