Welfare-to-Work (WtW) programs. I administer a multiple battery of assessment instruments related to <br />vocational interests, work values, personality type, abilities/aptitudes, and transferable skills, and interpret <br />the results and counsel customers, and then produce a report of the findings to case managers. <br /> <br />During a period of time at the W/O/R/K Center, I was involved in conducting weekly workshops for the <br />Center's JTPA customers on topics of Self-Esteem and Stress Management. Career Development and Job <br />Search workshqps were also provided to one extensive group of customers (Mitsubishi). <br /> <br />Combining my valuable experience in a broad range of relevant areas, my excellent relationships at the <br />W/O/R/K Center; my background of providing Psychological Counselkng, Career Counseling, and <br />Vocational Assessment to a broad and diverse customer population; and my extensive professional <br />healthcare background and education/training as a Counselor, I believe makes me an excellent candidate for <br />the position of Career Counselor. <br /> <br />Summary of Qualifications <br /> <br />· Master of Arts degree in Marriage and Family Therapy <br />· Licensed as Marriage and Family Therapist since 1981 <br />· Extensive history dating back many years of providing Counseling and Psychotherapy services to a <br /> wide variety of clients, including multiethnic, multicultural, and the economically disadvantaged, in <br /> a variety of settings, including hospitals, clinics, and office, on an individual, familial, and group <br /> basis <br />· Comprehensive experience working directly with unemployed or underemployed individuals (eight <br /> years), and providing Vocational Assessment and Career Counseling services (seven years), <br /> inducting administering and interpreting a wide array of vocational assessment instruments. <br />· Familiarity with various aspects and resources of the Orange County mental health professional <br /> community, as well as career development and labor market information resources <br />· Knowledgeable and experienced in working with loss (e.g., re employment status), self esteem <br /> issues, stress management, depression and other mental health disorders, and the techniques to <br /> facilitate improved functioning and oudook <br />· Knowledge and skill in personal evaluation to determine level of need and services <br /> Proficient in maintaining detailed records and communicating with appropriate staff <br />· Knowledge of and familiarity with the Workforce Investment Act (WIA), Welfare to Work <br /> (WtW) programs, the multiple agency partners who are a part of these programs, and excellent <br /> relationships with the staffmembers of the Santa Aha W/O/R/K Center <br /> <br />Description of Needs and Services <br /> <br />Based upon my experience at the Santa Ana W/O/R/K Center and elsewhere, the populations that I <br />anticipate will need services include those who were laid off from their j ohs, workers who have been <br />unsuccessful in securing adequate employment despite their efforts, workers who are considered or <br />consider themselves underemployed, the economically disadvantaged, chronically unemployed individuals <br />with limited vocational skills, and persons being supported by public assistance. <br /> <br />2 <br /> <br /> <br />
