RECESS At 4:05 P.M. a ten miuute recess was <br /> declared. The meeting was reconvened <br /> at 4:15 P.M. with all Councilmen present <br />except for Mayor McMichael who arrived five minutes later. <br /> <br />CATV .J~\~b, The City Manager presented a report on <br /> a staff study of co~unity antenna <br /> television franchises and recommended <br />that the City Council set the matter for discussion at its next meeting after <br />which he would request a probable 60 day period for development and presentation <br />of forms and procedures for the actual granting of license. <br /> <br />On motion of Councilman Thurman, seconded by Councilman Griset and carried, <br />the City Council continued the matter to the next City Council meeting and <br />ordered the report filed. <br /> <br />Mayor McMichael arrived at 4:20 P.M. and was present throughout the remainder <br />of the meeting. <br /> <br />SALARY INCP~EASES ~ ~o On motion of Councilman Herrin, seconded <br /> by Councilman Griset and carried, the <br /> Manager's report dated 8/30/67 recommending <br />increases for meritorious service was approved. <br /> <br />COUNCIL COMMITTEEREPORTS Councilman Markel reported on his tour <br /> of Public Works projects under construc- <br /> tion, discussed with the City Manager <br />and Public Works Director the appraisals and methods of acquisition of First <br />Street; and requested an opinion frc~ the City Attorney of whether or not a <br />building could be placed in Parton Street at Santa Aha High School. <br /> <br />At the request of Councilman Herrin, the Public Works Director reported on <br />problems involved in the construction of the Broadway sewer. <br /> <br />CATS ~ ~ A recent complaint about cats was <br /> discussed and it was noted that the <br /> Municipal Code provisions limiting <br />the keeping of more than tt~ree dogs as household pets did not apply to <br />cats. It was moved by Councilman Griset, seconded by Councilmam Carlson <br />ami carried, that the matter be referred to the staff for additional study <br />and recommendation. <br /> <br />WE~ ABATEMENT ~ '~ Noting that the recent weed abatement <br /> ordinance called for appointment of a <br /> committee to serve as hearing board <br />for appeals, Mayor McMlchael appointed the Council as a c~ittee for hearfn~ <br />appeals and directed that the appeals be held at regular Co~mcil meetings. <br /> <br />SURPLUS PRO~ ~ ~ ~u Actlngupon the City Ma~agers's rec- <br />KING ~ c.'~-~endation, the City Coumcil cancelled <br /> auction on surplus property described in <br />Report No. 61-65, King Street~ and indicated that the auction would be resched- <br />uled at, or subsequent to, the first Council meeti~ in December, on motion of <br />Councilman Griset, seconded by Councilman Brooks and carried. <br /> <br />CITY COUNCIL 279 September 5, 1967 <br /> <br /> <br />
