<br />Speaking in opposition to granting the variance were Stanley ~afer, attorney
<br />representing Villa De Flores Homeowners Association; Ralph Cru~, 2733 No Flower;
<br />Bill Van Riper, 25~ Feruwood Drive; and Mary Lou Power, 507 W. Me~ory Lane~
<br />Harol~ Rirsh, representing Hirsco Corporation, and George Weisner~ architect for
<br />~irsco Corporation, spoke in favor of granting the variance. The hearing ~was closed.

<br />Council discussed the ~atter at le~h, consider~n~ the traffic problem~ density,
<br />~ the proper~y line which wo~ld, he ~d~ feet with ~he apartment units o~er the
<br />garages and see~ed to be the ~ain objection of the neighboring property owners.

<br />It was ~oved by C~mucilz~n Carlson, seconded ~y Councilman ~rooks, to uphold the
<br />action of the Plamning Cceeaission and instruct the City Attorney to prepare a
<br />resolution granting Variance 68-5B sub,eot to conditions~n Find~ of Fact dated
<br />May 27, 1~o~, except that Condition 1 be -~nded to include the deletion of the
<br />apar~ents over the garages on the easterly side of the property. The ~otion was

<br />duplex, 15 letters in favor, an~ a letter fron the attorney fronwhonhe purchased

<br />The Plannin~ Director pointed out the Pla~tng Commission's position that this is
<br />a long standing, well~aintained single family area and that there are no grounds
<br />for changing the density ca this one lot.
