5.5 <br /> <br />employees shall receive two hundred dollars ($200) per week when assigned to be <br />on standby duty. <br /> <br />Water Production, Water Maintenance, Public Works Maintenance, Building <br />Maintenance, and Information Services Division staff shall be required to serve on <br />standby duty and receive standby pay as defined above. The City's preference will <br />be to accomplish the above through volunteers; however, qualified employees may <br />be directed to be on standby if the number of volunteers is insufficient. <br /> <br />In addition to the $200 per week Standby Pay, if an employee is able to handle the <br />incident by phone or other electronic means without reporting to duty, he shall be <br />entitled to overtime pay at the rate of 15 minutes or actual time spent per incident <br />whichever is greater, paid at time and one-half (T 1/2) per incident. <br /> <br />Temporary U~orade Assienment Pay. In order to provide an equitable method of <br />compensating employees who are assigned temporarily to a vacant, full-time, budgeted, <br />higher-level position the following shall apply: <br /> <br />A General Guidelines <br /> <br />Temporary Upgraded Assignments shall be limited to the temporary filling <br />of vacant, full-time, budgeted positions due to the termination, promotion or <br />authorized long-term absence of the incumbent. A temporarily vacant <br />position need not be a position without an incumbent. <br /> <br />Each such assignment may be terminated at any time, but in no event shall <br />such assignment continue beyond one hundred eighty (180) days of such <br />assignment. <br /> <br />Prior to recommending to the City Manager that a pay differential for a <br />Temporary Upgrade Assignment be granted, the Department Head shall make <br />the following determinations: <br /> <br />The duties and responsibilities of the position to be filled are of such <br />nature that they cannot remain unassigned pending the return to duty <br />of the absent incumbent or preparation of an eligible list whichever <br />is applicable. <br /> <br />It is not practical to assign the duties of the vacant position to any <br />other employee or employees in the same or higher classification. <br /> <br />The City Manager or his designee must give written approval of all <br />Temporary Upgrade Assignments involving an increase in pay for the <br /> <br />19 <br /> <br /> <br />
