5.6 <br /> <br />5.7 <br /> <br />beginning rate (Step "AA") assigned to the higher classification or the lowest <br />rate in that range which is at least ten (10) salary rate ranges (approximately <br />5%) higher than the current base salary rate he or she normally receives, <br />(inclusive of lead pay and exclusive of any other assignment or special pay <br />additive or additives) whichever is greater, except when placement at '.'E" <br />step will not be sufficient to provide the ten (10) salary rate range increase. <br /> <br />If an employee has worked ten (10) consecutive days during the term of this <br />Agreement in a higher classification, the employee shall thereafter receive <br />upgrade pay for each day the employee is assigned to work in the higher <br />classification during the term of this Agreement. Employees must requalify <br />for an upgrade (Temporary Assignment) if the employee has not worked in · <br />this specific upgrade assignment for a period of 18 consecutive months. The <br />employee shall only be considered to work in a higher classification if such <br />work is duly and specifically authorized by the employee's Department Head. <br /> <br />Assignment or special pay additives, such as bilingual pay, shift differential, <br />special skill pay, etc., paid to an employee prior to becoming eligible for <br />Temporary Upgrade Assignment Pay, will not be considered in computing <br />the amount of higher pay to which he or she is entitled in Subparagraph 5.5C <br />above. If the special circumstances upon which said additive is based are also <br />applicable to the Temporary Upgrade Assignment and the employee remains <br />eligible for such pay while in the temporary upgrade position, this amount <br />will be added to the new salary rate range. <br /> <br />Temporary Upgrade Assignments which entail moving an employee into a <br />classification represented by an employee unit other than that which <br />represents his or her permanent classification shall not include any change in <br />fringe benefits for the affected employee. <br /> <br />While working in a Temporary Upgrade Assignment, an employee will <br />continue to accrue, and have recorded, general, special or normal salary step <br />increases in the employee's permanent position; however, such salary <br />increases will be paid only to maintain the minimum five percent (5%) <br />differential above the salary to which an employee is entitled in his or her <br />permanent position. <br /> <br />All assignments of personnel to positions set forth in Sections 5. 1 through 5.4 above shall <br />be made or revoked at the discretion of the Department Head. <br /> <br />Career Development Incentives. Employees hired in a classification which requires an <br />International Conference of Building Officials (ICBO) or other certificate as a prerequisite <br />to hiring, either upon appointment or by the time of the employee's passage of probation <br /> <br />21 <br /> <br /> <br />
