SURPLUS LAND Council considered Report 29-68 regarding <br />FIRST, EAST OF BRISTOL 16, 892 square foot parcel on the north side <br /> of First Street, east of Bristol. It was moved <br />by Councilman Brooks, seconded by Councilman Carlson, to declare the property <br />surplus, a/lthorize sale at auction on December 9., 1968, 7:30 P. M., with a minimum <br />bid of $38,000. The motion was carried on the following roll call vote: <br /> <br />AYES: Herrin, Brooks, Carlson, Griset, Thurman, McMichael <br />NOES: Markel <br />ABSENT: None <br /> <br />FINAL MAP, TRACT 3461 Final Tract Map 3461, filed by Long Beach <br /> Construction Company, creating 124 lots at <br /> Edinger and Kilson Drive, was approved, <br />dedications thereon accepted, and execution of subdivision agreement authorized, <br />oD_motion of Councilman Griset, seconded by Councilman Carlson and carried. <br /> <br />BUSINESS PROMOTION i%I,?.T'~ Z ? Butt Smith, Executive Director of the Downtown <br />DISTRICT Santa Aha Association, presented a progress <br /> report to Council of the Business Promotion <br />District to the present time, explaining that a meeting ~as., scheduled with the <br />dissident merchants to explain the purpose of the ordinance to them; and reported <br />that they were about ready to proceed with the Fourth Street Mall, the second <br />step in the program. <br /> <br />OVERLAPPING DISTRICTS The City Manager explained to Council that a <br /> problem existed in regard to the overlapping <br /> of certain portions of the Garden Grove <br />Sanitary District within the City of Santa Ana, and that people in the area are <br />being charged for trash collection by both agencies. <br /> <br />On motion of C~ouncilman Griset, seconded by Councilman Herrin and carried, <br />the Mayor was authorized to appoint a Council committee to meet with a committee <br />from the Garden Grove Sanitary District to try to resolve the problem. Mayor <br />McMichael appointed a committee consisting of Councilman Brooks, Councilman <br />Thurman and himself to work with a committee of the Garden Grove Sanitary District <br />and come back with a recommendation. <br /> <br />RECESS At 4:40 P.M. the meeting was recessed to <br /> 7:30 P.M., at which time it was reconvened <br /> with all Council members present. Following <br />the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag, the Invocation was delivered by Barney <br />Kinard, youth Director of the First Baptist Church of Tustin, followed by a minute <br />of silent prayer ~ memory of the late Sky Dunlap. <br /> <br />CITY COUNCIL 65 November 18, 1968 <br /> <br /> <br />
