SOLICITATION APPLICATIONS On motion of Counciln'mn Herrin, <br /> seconded by Councilman Patterson <br /> and unanimously carried, the <br />following Solicitation Applications were approved: <br /> <br />Yack Fisher Chapter, No. 23, Disabled American Veterans, Inc., <br />forget-me-not sale, November 4 - 15, 1969. <br /> <br />Santa Ana Seventh Day Adventist Church, house to house soliciting <br /> with caroling by voice'and sound units, November 15 through <br /> December 31, 1969. <br /> <br />Ibaraki Christian Foundation, c/o Northside Church of Christ, <br />candy sale, November 7 - December, 1969. <br /> <br />PARK SITE Council considered the recom- <br /> mendation of the Board of Recrea- <br /> tion and Parks that Council initiate <br />action to acquire and develop the 7th and Harper Streets Park Site through <br />use of Federal funds. <br /> <br />Assistant to the City Manager, David Tayco, explained to Council that the <br />City has not acquired the property, but does have an appraisal; that the <br />proposed park site contains 5.49 acres, a portion is owned by the City <br />of Garden Grove adjacent to the golf course, although the entire site is <br />located within the City of Santa Aha; that the entire area is unimproved <br />and undeveloped; that during the mid-year budget revisions, funds could <br />be allocated for incremental purchase of the site and beginning site <br />development which would include sprinklers, turfing, landscaplng, <br />drinking fountains, et cetera, for immediate utilization, but no buildings <br />or ball diamonds in the first year. <br /> <br />On motion of Councilman Patterson, seconded by Councilman Villa, <br />staff was authorized to proceed as quickly as possible with acquisition <br />and development of this park site through the use of Federal funds, <br />on the following roll call vote: <br /> <br />AYES: <br />NOES: <br />ABSENT: <br /> <br />Brooks, Evans, Patterson, Villa, Griset <br />Herrin, Markel <br />None <br /> <br />Councilmen Markel and Herrin both stated their opposition to the use of <br />Federal funds for acquisition of parks. <br /> <br />NATIONAL UNITY WEEK Mayor recognized Tom Eldredge <br />RES..69-163 and Bob Dennis, two high school <br /> students, who requested that <br />Council adopt a special resolution proclaiming the week of November 9 - <br />16 as National Unity Week in Santa Aha, that if Council should adopt <br />said resolution, that the American Flag be flown twenty four hours a <br />day with proper illumination at night, and that City cars display humber <br />stickers which they would furnish. <br /> <br />CITY COUNCIL <br /> <br />-379- <br /> <br />November 3, 1969 <br /> <br /> <br />
