Benchmark Technical Specialties <br />~Computer & Networking Services Category <br /> <br />Network Engineer <br />(TCPIIP, IPX, Ethernet) <br /> <br />Duties <br /> <br />Education/Certification <br /> <br />Work Experience/Skills/Knowledge/Abilities <br /> <br />Other <br /> <br />· Responsible for configuring, controlling, tuning, <br /> monitoring and troubleshooting all elements of the <br /> LAN/WAN infrastructure including hubs, switches, <br /> routers, DSU/CSU's, PAS, virtual private networking <br /> and leased circuits. <br />· Utilizes software and hardware tools to identify <br /> problems and factors affecting network performance. <br />· Provides recommendations on expanding networks to <br /> meet new business needs. <br /> <br />· Formal training courses in networking, protocols, <br /> device programming, etc. desirable. <br />· Vendor Certification by Cisco, Network General, <br /> and/or Cabletron highly desirable. <br /> <br />· Minimum 4 years hands-on network experience in a <br /> multiple LAN end metropolitan based WAN <br /> environment. <br />· Experience with Cisco and Cabletron hardware and <br /> software in a TCP/IP and IPX protocols using <br /> Ethernet required. <br />· Experience with Network General Sniffer and Fluke <br /> LANMeter desirable. <br /> <br />· Must have a valid Class C Driver's license. <br />· Manual dexterity to manipulate tools, test equipment, <br /> electronic devices, computers and keyboards. <br />· Ability to lift and move objects weighing up to 50 <br /> pounds. <br />· Ability to read printed documentation and computer <br /> screens. <br />· Ability to recognize and respond to alarm sounds and <br /> equipment generated signals. <br />,, May have to undergo background investigation by <br /> Santa Ana Police Department. <br /> <br />November 2001 43 <br /> <br /> <br />
