<br />" <br /> <br />.' <br /> <br />YMCA Day Camp <br /> <br />All YMCA of Orange County day camp programs feature craft projects, opening and <br />closing activities, and special events that revolve around a weekly theme. Some of this <br />year's themes include Aloha Week, Zootopia, Water Water Everywhere! and Out of This <br />World. Campers are divided into camper units based on age, then into smaller groups <br />with a dedicated counselor. <br /> <br />Pre-K Unit - 3 to 5 year olds who can manage toileting on their own. Groups consist of <br />six campers and one counselor. The pre-K program provides campers with exposure to <br />developmentally appropriate camp activities including playacting, crafts, singing, <br />dancing, hiking, playing games and enjoying stories. The pre-K program operates from <br />9:00 a.m. to 1 :00 p.m. daily (pre and post camp is not available for pre-K campers). <br /> <br />Discovery Unit - Campers are entering 1s' to 3rd grades and are ready to spend the <br />entire day at camp, Groups consist of eight campers and one counselor. Discoverers <br />play games, explore sports, make crafts, sing songs, hike, discover nature, swim, go on <br />field trips and make new friends. <br /> <br />Adventure Unit - Campers are entering 4'h to 6th grades. Groups consist of ten campers <br />and one counselor. Adventure campers swim, play sports, create crafts, learn outdoor <br />cooking, explore nature, hike and enjoy special guests at camp. Campers may <br />participate in field trips to some of Southern California's most popular attractions. <br /> <br />Teen Unit - Campers are entering grades 7th to 9th grades. Groups consist of ten <br />campers and one counselor. The Teen unit offers a structured program in a flexible <br />environment, giving campers decision-making opportunities with their camp schedule. <br />Teens will travel to some of Southern California's hottest destinations. Adventures like <br />rock climbing, kayaking and overnight campouts are included throughout the summer. <br /> <br />leader in Training (liT) Unit - Campers are entering 10'h to 12'h grades. Groups <br />consist of ten campers and one counselor. The LIT program builds leadership skills <br />teens can use throughout their lives to identify and achieve goals. An adult leader guides <br />LIT's through group facilitation, youth coaching, and camp program design skills. <br />Prospective LIT's must submit an application, complete an interview with the camp <br />director, and commit to 3 consecutive weeks at camp.
