UCI PROJECT 21 <br /> <br />the end of the Agenda.. <br /> <br />On motion of Councilman Villa~ <br />seconded by Councilman Evans, <br />Agenda Item #45 was postponed <br /> <br />1971 SUMMER YOUTH On motion of Councilman Villa, <br />TRANSPORTATION PROGRAM seconded by Councilman <br /> Patterson, the 1971 Summer <br />Youth Transportation Program was approved wiih the City administration's <br />share of $1400 to be supplied through in-kind contribution, and the Mayor <br />and Clerk were authorized to execute all necessary documents in <br />conjunction therewith, on the following roll call vote: <br /> <br />AYES: <br />NOES: <br />ABSENT: <br /> <br />Villa, Patterson, Evans, Yamamoto <br />Herrin, Markel <br />Griset <br /> <br />CITIZENS' TAX STATEMENTS Motion by Councilman Evans, <br /> seconded by Councilman Yamamoto, <br /> to receive and file memo from <br />the City of Costa Mesa dated June 29, 1971, requesting assistance in the <br />matter of clarification of citizens' tax statements, with letter to Orange <br />County Board of Supervisors attached, carried on the following roll call <br />vote: <br /> <br />AYES: <br />NOES: <br />ABSENT: <br /> <br />Evans, Yamamoto, Villa, Markel <br />Herrin, Patterson <br />Griset <br /> <br />In further discussion, the Assistant City Manager stated that the proposed <br />breakdown on citizens' tax statements would be in four categories: <br />Education, County, City, and Special Districts. <br /> <br />Councilmen Patterson and Herrin stated they believed that every citizen <br />should be given a detailed breakdown of the tax items on his statement. <br />Councilman Patterson's motion, 'tha~the City of Santa Ana send a letter <br />to the Board of Supervisors which would be basically the same as Costa <br />Mesa's letter, due to the fact that the electorate has a right to know and <br />should receive his tax rate for each item, failed for lack of a second. <br /> <br />Councilman Yamamoto's motion, seconded by Councilman Evans, that the <br />staff provide information on the County costs for preparing the tax <br />statemeni, information to be contained in the statement and the complete <br />breakdown that will occur, carried on a 4 ~ 2 vote, Councilmen Markel and <br />Patterson dissenting. <br /> <br />CITY COUNCIL <br /> <br />-228- July 6, 1971 <br /> <br /> <br />
