<br />Less Than Significant Impact <br /> <br />Presently, there are alternative modes of transportation within <br />the proj ect area to help reduce traffic trips generated by the <br />proposed project. The Orange County Transportation Authority <br />operates a fixed route bus service when the project area. <br />Metrolink and Amtrak Train Service would also be available <br />through bus service to the Santa Ana Regional Transportation <br />Center. The proposed project would not be in conflict with any <br />City policies regarding alternative modes of transportation. Nor <br />would implementation of the proposed project displace any <br />existing modes of public transportation provided within the <br />project area. <br /> <br />UTILITY/SERVICE SYSTEMS <br /> <br />D. <br /> <br />Are sufficient water supplies available to serve the <br />project from existing entitlements and resources or are new <br />or expanded entitlements needed? <br /> <br />Less than Significant Impact <br /> <br />The City of Santa Ana Water Department would provide domestic <br />water service for the proposed proj ect. The City of Santa Ana <br />produces water from two sources. The Orange County Groundwater <br />Basin provides 66% of the annual water supply and the <br />Metropolitan Water District provides 34% of the annual water <br />supply. The City of Santa Ana has 19 active wells with combined <br />capacities of approximately 42,500 gallons per minute. The City <br />also has seven MWD connections with combined normal operating <br />capacities of 20,700 gallons per minute.' The total combined <br />capacity of all water production facilities is 63,200 gallons <br />per minute. According to the City's 2000 Urban Water Management <br />Plan, the projected water demand for the City in 2004 would be <br />approximately 51,000 acre feet per year. According to the City's <br />Water Department the current demand is less than the proj ect <br />demand at approximately 48,ODO acre feet per year. Additionally, <br />according to the to the Water Department long-term water demand <br />in the City is not forecasted to increase. <br /> <br />Presently, the City of Santa Ana utilizes a water demand rate of <br />110 gallons per day per person. This rate includes both domestic <br />water use and wastewater demands. Based on the City of Santa Ana <br />average household size of 4.65 persons per household, the <br />project would have a water demand of approximately 8,695 gallons <br />per day.
