COMMUNITY SPOTLIGHT At the conclusion of <br />FAIR HOUSING COUNCIL her presentation, Mayor <br /> Patterson presented a <br /> plaque of appreciation <br />to Mildred Miller, representing the Fair Housing Council. <br />She described the activities and accomplishments of the Fair <br />Housing Council in aiding minority and low-income families in <br />finding homes adequate to their needs. (CA 9.3) <br /> <br />AGENDA ORDER Item 70 set for public <br /> hearing on March 18, <br /> 1974, by Council to <br /> review Variance 73~62 <br />filed by First Western Bank & Trust Company, to allow town- <br />house development in the R 2-PRD and R 1-PRD Districts with <br />less than the required open space, and its Negative Declaration, <br />was deferred until later in the meeting, with the consent of <br />the applicant, by unanimous informal consent of the Council. <br /> <br />PUBLIC HEARING The written request <br />APPEAL NO. 339 AND dated March 26, 1974 <br />NEGATIVE DECLARATION from Cristobel H. <br />CUP 74-3 Sanchez and Effie Marie <br /> Sanchez, on withdrawal <br />of Appeal No. 339 from the Agenda, was unanimously approved <br />without prejudice and the hearing cancelled, on motion of <br />Councilman Griset, seconded by Councilman Evans. (EA 13.4) <br /> <br />PUBLIC HEARING <br />APPEAL NO. 340 AND <br />DETERMINATION OF EXEMPTION <br />MINOR EXCEPTION 74-5 <br /> <br />Tke written request <br />dated March 29, 1974, <br />from Dale H. Heinly, <br />Attorney for Mr. <br />Herman Johnson, for a <br />continuance to April 15, 1974, of the public hearing on Appeal <br />No. 340 and the Determination of Exemption for Minor Exception <br />74-5, was approved on motion of Councilman Griset, seconded <br />by Councilman Evans and carried with Councilman Yamamoto <br />dissenting. (CA 13.5) <br /> <br />PUBLIC HEARING The Public Hearing <br />VARIANCE 73-62 AND to consider the Negative <br />NEGATIVE DECLARATION Declaration and Variance <br />FIRST WESTERN BANK & TRUST CO. Application No. 73-62 <br /> filed by First Western <br />Bank & Trust Company, to allow townhouse development in the <br />R 2-PRD and R 1-PRD Districts with less than the required open <br />space, at 2250 East Santa Clara, was opened by the Mayor. <br /> <br />The Planning Director reported that the Planning Commission <br />had approved the Variance Application although the Planning <br />Department staff had recommended denial, and he reviewed the <br />Commission Findings of Fact. <br /> <br />The following proponents spoke in favor of the application: <br /> <br />Jack Hall, Civil Engineer, 2530 North Grand Avenue <br />R. F. Hendrickson, Trustee, First Western Bank & Trust Co. <br />Mr. Kennedy, Kennedy & Hause, Developers <br />John A. Dietz, 2200 Pasadena <br /> <br />The proponents stated that this type of development has been <br />the most popular throughout the County and slides of similar <br />type townhouses were shown.
