(CA 25) <br /> <br />CIVIC CENTER AREA Council received the <br />LAND ACQUISITION report dated October 2, <br /> 1974, from the Executive <br /> Director of the Redevelop- <br />ment Agency, transmitting Resolution No. 62 of the Civic Center <br />Commission, requesting the Orange County Board of Supervisors, <br />the Santa Ana Redevelopment Agency and the City Council to take <br />steps to acquire the two blocks located between Fifth and <br />Sixth Streets, Broadway on the east, and Ross Street on the <br />west, for Civic Center purposes. The Director's memo concurred <br />with the recommendation. <br /> <br />Council approved the concept that the land use of the two <br />blocks will be for future Civic Center expansion and referred <br />the matter to Staff for future negotiations with the County <br />and Civic Center Commission over acquisition policy to determine <br />the best manner in which to preserve the land for a Civic Center <br />use, on the unanimously approved (5-0) motion of Councilman <br />Evans, seconded by Councilman Garthe. (CA 77.6) <br /> <br />Councilman Ward arrived at 4:40 P.M. <br /> <br />GREENBELT COMMISSION Council received Council- <br /> man Ward's letter of <br /> resignation from the <br /> Greenbelt Commission, <br /> dated October 1, 1974. Councilman Ward stated that he has been <br /> disappointed and frustrated by the recurrence of personality <br /> conflicts between the City and Greenbelt Commission staffs and <br /> by the slow progress of the development of the Santiago Creek <br /> and Santa Aha River trails. <br /> <br />Mr. E. J. Berger, Greenbelt Coordinator, stated that Councilman <br />Ward's resignation was regrettable in view of his active parti- <br />cipation and interest as a member of the Commission, and recom- <br />mended that the resignation not be accepted.
