Council <br />recessed for dinner with <br />members of the Bowers <br />Museum Board at Bowers <br /> <br />INVOCATION Council reconvened at <br />PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE at 7:40 P.M. with all <br /> Councilmen present. <br /> Following the Pledge <br />of Allegiance, the Reverend Wilbur Parry, Camile Christian <br />Church, gave the Invocation. (CA 80.17) <br /> <br />PRESENTATION TO CITY Mr. John Batten, on <br />RECORDING RESUSCIANNE behalf of ITT Cannon <br /> Electric Co., presented <br /> a gift of a Recording <br />Resuscianne, to be used for training personnel in rescue <br />practices, to the Paramedic Unit of the Santa Ana Fire Depart- <br />ment. The gift was given in appreciation of the heroic rescue <br />of an employee of ITT Cannon by the Paramedic Unit. <br /> <br />Fire Chief Judd acknowledged the gift for the Paramedic Unit, <br />and a demonstration was given later in the evening by the <br />Paramedic personnel. (CA 73A) <br /> <br />COMMUNITY SPOTLIGHT Jean Forbath, Executive <br />FEEDBACK FOUNDATION Director of Feedback <br /> Foundation, introduced <br /> Mr. Gerald Kraemer and <br />Sister Henrietta. She stated that their first Social Service <br />Program occurred in 1968 with the children's hot lunch program. <br />There is also a TLC (Transportation, Lunch and Counseling) <br />program, a massive feeding Senior Citizens program; the Clear- <br />ing House at Christmas-time; Toys for Tots, and Emergency <br />Welfare. Mayor Patterson presented the representatives with <br />a City Seal Tile Plaque in recognition of outstanding service <br />to the community. (CA 9.3) <br /> <br />KIWANIS CLUB Fire Chief Gene Judd, <br />PRESENTATION President of the <br /> Kiwanis Club, introduced <br /> Lynn Lende, past Presi- <br />dent; Mr. Maury Gladman, one of two International Presidents. <br />Mr. Gladman stated that Kiwanis is in 46 countries, with almost <br />300,000 men dedicated to community service. He stated tkat Dr. <br />Kenneth Wells, President of the Freedom Foundation, had said <br />that Kiwanis is strong because it was morally and spiritually <br />strong; that its first object is to give primacy to human and <br />spiritual rather than material values; that it sponsors the <br />Key Club in high schools, the Circle K in colleges, and the <br />Keywonettes; that ten thousand dollars a year are donated for <br />scholarships; that Kiwanis is 54 years old; that it works with <br />Scouts, Salvation Army, United Fund, YMCA and other organiza- <br />tions in the City. Harold Gosse was introduced as Kiwanian <br />"Man of the Year". <br /> <br />Mayor Patterson was made an honorary member, and each Council- <br />man was presented with a Kiwanis Freedom Bell. The Mayor <br />presented a City Seal Tile Plaque to the Kiwanis Club for <br />outstanding service to the community.
