(CA 9.4) <br /> <br />PRESENTATION TO CITY - Mr. Manuel Esqueda <br />AZTEC CALENDAR REPLICA told of the presenta- <br /> tion of a fire engine <br /> some time ago by the <br />City of Santa Aha to its Sister City Santa Aha, E1 Salvador. <br />He stated that he has dedicated himself to raising funds for <br />scholarships for Mexican-American children for college; <br />that he founded the Gemini Club, which has awarded 204 <br />scholarships to Mexican-American youngsters since 1951. <br />He added that in Yucatan, his forefathers' place of birth, <br />there is a pyramid that has four stairs leading to the <br />top; that each stair has 91 steps, a total of 364 steps <br />counting the four, the exact number of days in the year, <br />with the platform at the top the 365th; that in the National <br />Museum in Mexico City, there is an Aztec Calendar which <br />depicts the length of time it takes the earth to revolve <br />around the sun. He displayed a clock he has designed with <br />this theme in mind which he intends to sell to raise <br />enough money to start a vocational school in Santa Aha, and he <br />presented one to the City. (CA 73A) <br /> <br />PUBLIC HEARING <br />APPEAL NO. 344 <br />VA 74-25 <br />ELWYN G. & DORIS MICHAELS <br /> <br />No. 74-25, filed by Elwyn G. <br /> <br /> Mayor Patterson <br /> announced that this <br /> was the time and place <br /> to consider Appeal <br />No. 344 on Variance <br />and Doris Michaels, applicants <br /> <br />for the Variance to allow outside storage in the C 1 District <br />at 2701 West Edinger; and that the applicants were appealing <br />to Council for deletion of Condition "E" of the Planning <br />Commission approval, which provides for Planning Commission <br />review at the end of a two-year period and an annual review <br />thereafter. <br /> <br />The Mayor stated that the applicant had requested a continuance. <br /> <br />The Public Hearing was continued to November 4, 1974, at <br />7:30 P.M. in the Council Chambers, on the unanimously carried <br />motion of Councilman Griset, seconded by Councilman Garthe. <br />(CA 13.3) <br /> <br />ORAL COMMUNICATION Mr. Dave Lair, 1739 <br />HARASSMENT OF CHILDREN West Jan Way, stated <br /> that his six-year-old <br /> daughter has been <br />consistently harassed on the way to school and was kicked <br />in the face a few days ago.
