Leahy, Chief ~Live Officer <br /> <br />From: <br /> <br />Subject: <br /> <br />The Centerline Project Action Plan <br /> <br />, , <br /> <br />Overview <br /> <br />On October 22, 2001 the Board of Directors selected the Centerline Locally <br />Preferred Alternative (LPA), approved a recommendation to proceed with <br />Preliminary Engineering (PE) and the rinal Environmental Impact Statement <br />(FEIS) on the LPA, authorized staff to 'request proposals for a PE consultant <br />and a FEIS consultant, and directed staff to develop a project action plan. This <br />report provides the Board with a proposed action plan for the project, which will <br />then continue to be developed in collaboration and consultation with the <br />partner cities of Santa Ana, Costa Mesa, and Irvine. <br /> <br />Recommendation <br /> <br />Approve the proposed Centerline Project action plan. <br /> <br />Background <br /> <br />In 1997, the Orange County Transportation Authority (aCTA) completed a <br />Major Investment Study (MIS) and adopted a multi-modal Locally Preferred <br />Strateg-y (LPS) to improve transportation service in the central corridor of <br />Orange County. <br /> <br />In 1998, aCTA began a conceptual engineering study and preparation of a <br />Draft Environmental Impact Statement / Draft Environmental Impact Report <br />(DEIS/DEIR) on three build alternatives proposed for The Centerline.
