STREET LIGHTING REPORT The Street Lighting <br />CONTINUED INDEFINITELY Report prepared by <br /> the Public Works <br /> Department was con- <br />tinued indefinitely so that the reports, findings and recom- <br />mendations can be cleared with the Community Development <br />Program and the Community Plan Program, on the motion of <br />Councilman Evans, seconded by Councilman Brandt, and carried <br />(6:0) unanimously. CA 29.3 <br /> <br />ORAL COMMUNICATION Public Information <br />CITY PARTICIPATION IN Officer Frank <br />ST. PATRICK'S DAY PARADE Blaszcak extended <br /> an invitation from <br />the Bicentennial Committee and the 17th Day of Ma~ch <br />Committee to all Councilmen to participate in the St. <br />Patrick's Day Parade on Saturday, March 13, 1976; Council- <br />men Evans and Brandt agreed to participate by riding in <br />the Parade, CA 151 <br /> <br />POTENTIAL TEMPORARY PARAMEDIC Fire Chief Eugene <br />MANPOWER SHORTAGE - AUTHORIZED Judd reported that <br />NEGOTIATION WITH OTHER CITIES three paramedics <br /> were off duty due to <br />various accidents; that a paramedic van was taken out of <br />service for 45 minutes recently due to insufficient man- <br />power; that he had contacted Fire Chiefs of two other <br />cities to explore the possibility of negotiating an agree- <br />ment to hire off-duty paramedics on a day-to-day basis <br />from these cities in the event of a manpower shortage, <br />rather than to shut down service; and that the reactions <br />to the proposal were favorable. City Attorney Keith Gow <br />stated that an acceptable arrangement can be worked out <br />for liability and Workmen's Compensation insurance. <br /> <br />Staff was authorized to negotiate agreements with other <br />cities to hire off-duty paramedics on a day-to-day part time <br />basis to alleviate a temporary manpower shortage for the <br />paramedic service, on the motion of Councilman Yamamoto, <br />seconded by Councilman Brandt, and carried (6:0) unanimously. <br /> CA 64.2 <br /> <br />ORAL COMMUNICATION - PERFORMING Councilman Brandt <br />ARTS CENTER/SPORTS FACILITY suggested that <br />CITIZENS COMMITTEE SUGGESTED the Council appoint <br /> a small committee <br />of Orange County citizens to delve more deeply into the <br />possibility of combining a Performing Arts Center with a <br />Sports Facility in the City of Santa Ana. At Councilman <br />Ward's suggestion, Councilman Brandt agreed to prepare a <br />list of names and a tentative program outline for presenta- <br />tion to Council at the next meeting, March 22.
