ASSEMBLY BILL 2752 - OCTD Councilman Ward's <br />COMPETING SERVICES motion, seconded by <br />NONSUPPORT Mayor Garthe, to <br /> support Assembly Bill <br />2752, pertaining to Orange County Transit District competing <br />services, failed to carry (2:S), with Councilmen Brandt, <br />Bricken, Ortiz, Evans and Mayor Garthe dissenting. CA 57 <br /> CA 112.2 <br /> <br />WAIVER OF FEE SHOWMOBILE The requested waiver <br />USE BY CHAMBER OF COMMERCE of fee for use of the <br />APPROVED showmobile on May 3, <br /> 1976 for the Cinco de <br />Mayo celebration, was approved on the motion of Councilman <br />Evans, seconded by Councilman Ward, and carried (7:0) <br />unanimously. CA 52.1 <br /> <br />PROCEDURE BOARD & COMMISSION The procedure recom- <br />APPOINTMENTS - APPROVED; mended by Mayor Garthe <br />MADALINE RICHARDS - APPOINTED for appointments to <br /> Boards and Commissions <br />was approved (7:0) unanimously; and Madaline Richards was <br />appointed to complete the term of Rudy Francis ending June 30, <br />1976, on the Board of Recreation and Parks, on the motion of <br />Councilman Evans, seconded by Councilman Brandt, and approved <br />(6:1), with Councilman Bricken dissenting. CA 80.9 <br /> CA 52.2 <br /> <br />PURCHASE OF BICENTENNIAL MAPS In response to a letter <br />FROM CHAMBER OF COMMERCE dated April 1, 1976, <br />CONDITIONALLY APPROVED from the Greater Santa <br /> Aha Chamber of Commerce <br />offering to sell to the City 1,000 City maps at 40¢ each, <br />approval was given to the purchase of 1,000 maps by the City <br />from the Chamber at the Chamber's actual cost, on the motion <br />of Councilman Ward, seconded by Councilman Evans, and carried <br />[6:1), with Councilman Ortiz dissenting. CA 9.1 <br /> CA 42.5 <br /> <br />BILINGUAL VOTING MATERIAL The City Attorney was <br />REFERRAL ITEM #12-76 directed to draft a <br />REQUESTED RESOLUTION resolution requesting <br /> that the Federal Voting <br />Rights Act of 1975 be amended to give States, Counties and <br />Cities flexibility in implementing the requirement for bi- <br />lingual voting material, and Item 12-76 was deleted from the <br />Council Referral Summary, on the unanimously carried motion <br />(7:0) of Councilman Ward, seconded by Councilman Evans. <br /> <br />A previous motion that a resolution be prepared for an amend- <br />ment requiring that bilingual voting material be available <br />upon request, and a subsequent amendment to that motion were <br />both withdrawn by consent of the makers and seconds to the <br />motions. CA 68 <br /> <br />RECESS At 3:52 P.M.
