ORAL COMMUNICATION <br />BILL WALSH - LIONS CLUB <br />CONDITIONALLY APPROVED <br /> <br />for Saturday and Sunday, May 1 <br />barbecue was approved, subject <br />unanimously carried (7:0) motion <br />seconded by Councilman Ward. <br /> <br />A request by the <br />Santa Aha Host Lions <br />Club for waiver of <br />fees for Prentice Park <br />and 2, for their annual <br />to Staff approval, on the <br /> of Councilman Yamamoto, <br /> CA 45.1 <br /> <br />ORAL COMMUNICATION Councilman Brandt <br />COUNCILMAN BRANDT reported to Council <br />COUNTY PARAMEDIC PROGRAM that he and acting <br /> Fire Chief Raymond <br />Bachtelle have attended meetings with the County regarding <br />the proposed Paramedic Program; that it appears that the <br />City would not benefit from the Program. <br /> <br />City Manager Bruce Spragg stated that there are still many <br />questions to be answered; that the County proposes to put <br />the matter on the November ballot; and that he will be pro- <br />viding the Council with a report in the near future. CA <br /> <br />112.22 <br /> <br />EXECUTIVE SESSION At 4:52 P.M. Mayor <br />RECESS Garthe recessed the <br /> meeting for an <br /> Executive Session <br />to discuss a pending lawsuit; at 5:00 P.M. the meeting was <br />reconvened to be immediately recessed for a joint meeting <br />of the Council with the Human Relations Commission. <br /> <br />JOINT DINNER MEETING <br />HUMAN RELATIONS COMMISSION <br /> <br />to order by Mayor Garthe at <br />at the Saddleback Inn, 1660 <br />cilmen in attendance except <br /> <br />The Joint Dinner Meeting <br />of the City Council and <br />the Human Relations <br />Commission was called <br />6:20 P.M. in the Westwinds Room <br />East First Street, with all Coun- <br />Councilman Gordon Bricken. The <br /> <br />following members of the Human Relations Commission were also <br />present: Zeke Hernandez, Nathaniel Lamm, Jacque Johnson, Art <br />Castro, Roy Uno, James Kelly, Helen Stanley, Rudy Moreno, and <br />Chairman Mildred Cobb. <br /> <br />Mildred Cobb, with the assistance of various members of the <br />Commission, presented a review of the HRC activities for the <br />past.six months. Mrs. Cobb stated that the Commission is an <br />informed group and each member is a resource for the area in <br />which he lives; and that the members understand many of the <br />City's programs. <br /> <br />She described the Commission's involvement in some of these <br />programs, including the Community Development public hearings, <br />park vandalism, Vietnamese "Know Your Rights" pamphlet, neigh- <br />borhood meetings to introduce the COP Program (team policing) <br />to the community, and improved relationships with the Orange <br />County Human Relations Commission. <br /> <br />The Chairman requested that Council concerns regarding the <br />Human Relations Commission be directed to the Commission so <br />that they may be resolved, and so as to avoid the kind of <br />adverse publicity that recently followed a Council meeting <br />where the Commission's attendance report was considered. <br /> <br />CITY COUNCIL MINUTES <br /> <br />149 <br /> <br />APRIL 19, 1976 <br /> <br /> <br />
