Those speaking in favor of the removal of parking, as proposed, <br />on Washington Avenue between Main and Lincoln Streets were: <br /> <br />Mike Andrade, 1042 North Logan <br />Robert Noble, 1318 North Lincoln Avenue <br /> <br />Both speakers were on the Logan Task Force and advocated the <br />parking restriction. <br /> <br />Those speaking in opposition were: <br /> <br />Sam S. Retman, 826 E. Washington, Santa Ana Salvage <br />James Sewell, 2402 Santiago Avenue (1007 E. Washington business) <br />Howard Faccou, 1038 Custer St. (owner 826 E. Washington, <br /> Santa Aha Auto Salvage) <br /> <br />The opposing speakers own or operate businesses on Washington, <br />and stated that the restriction of parking during business <br />hours would be a great inconvenience to their customers. <br /> <br />There being no further speakers, the Mayor closed the public <br />hearing. <br /> <br />The City Attorney was instructed to prepare a resolution to <br />remove parking on the north& south sides of Washington Avenue <br />between Main and Santiago Streets, effective upon adoption <br />of the resolution, and to remove parking on the north side <br />only, of Washington Avenue between Santiago and Lincoln, <br />effective after a period of 180 days, during which time Staff <br />was instructed to notify those persons affected by the parking <br />removal and to provide them all possible assistance in secur- <br />ing necessary alternative parking, on the motion of Councilman <br />Bricken, seconded by Councilman Garthe, carried 6:0 unanimously. <br /> <br />A prior motion made by Councilman Brandt, seconded by Council- <br />man Ward, to continue the matter to October 17, 1977 to allow <br />Staff time to provide the Council with additional information, <br />failed on a 3:3 vote, with Councilmen Yamamoto, Bricken and <br />Mayor Evans dissenting. <br /> <br />A further motion first made by Councilman Bricken, seconded by <br />Councilman Ward to remove parking as recommended with the <br />exception of the south side of Washington between Santiago <br />and Custer, also failed on a 3:3 vote, with Councilmen Ward, <br />Brandt and Garthe dissenting. CA 18 <br /> <br />PUBLIC HEARING - CONDEMNATION On the motion of Coun- <br />4505 W. 1ST ST. cilman Brandt, seconded <br />CONTINUED TO NOV. 7 by Councilman Garthe, <br /> carried 6:0 unanimously, <br />the hearing to determine public interest and necessity for <br />condemnation of real property at 4505 West First Street for <br />a parking lot for the Newhope Branch Library was continued <br />to November 7, 1977 to allow for continued negotiations with <br />the property owner and other interested parties. CA 71 <br /> <br />PUBLIC HEARING - AMENDMENT On the recommendation <br />APPLICATION 769 902 N.
