CA 80.17 <br /> <br />SPECIAL PRESENTATION Mr. Larry Lee and Mr. <br />JUNIOR CHAMBER OF COMMERCE Steve Farenbaugh, Presi- <br />PRESENTED WITH CITY TILE dent and Publicity Direc- <br /> tor, respectively, for <br />the Junior Chamber of Commerce, accepted a City Seal Tile plaque <br />from Vice Mayor Ward, on behalf of the City Council, in recogni- <br />tion and gratitude for the Jaycees civic contributions during <br />1977, including a city-wide tree well clean-up, maintenance <br />progra~providing over $2,000 worth of turkeys for a combined <br />Jaycee-Santa Ana Police Department community Christmas Project <br />for the needy. CA 73B <br /> <br />SPECIAL PRESENTATION Mrs. Pauline Lockwood <br />CERTIFICATE OF APPRECIATION accepted a Certificate <br /> of Appreciation for her <br /> services as a member of <br />the Personnel Board from March 23, 1974 to February 6, 1978, <br />presented by Councilman Bricken on behalf of the City Council. <br /> CA 50.8 <br /> <br />SPECIAL PRESENTATION Police Chief Raymond <br />COMMUNITY ORIENTED POLICE Davis stated that the <br />PROGRAM REVIEW Community representa- <br /> tives and Police Depart- <br />ment liaison staff for the COP Program had prepared a review <br />of its first two years of operation. Following the introductory <br />comments by the Chief, each of the four area commanders and <br />block captains joined in presenting information about the program's <br />activities, successes, future goals, community participation <br />and crime statistics. Invariably, statistics established a <br />reduction in crime, and increased community:awareness, support <br />and involvement in the COP Program. Following the program, <br />identification cards were presented to 32 members of the Block <br />Captains Executive Board by Mayor Evans and Chief Davis, after <br />which members of the Junior COP Program were introduced. <br /> CA 47.11 <br /> <br />BROADWAY OVERPASS ALIGNMENT <br />APPROVAL REAFFIRMED <br /> <br />way Overpass. <br /> <br />Mayor Evans announced <br />that this was the time and <br />place to review alternate <br />alignments for the Broad- <br /> <br />The Director of Public Works John Stevens projected on the screen <br />the alignment that had been approved in 1969 and for which <br />affirmation was now being sought, based on recommendations from <br />the Transportation Advisory Committee and Staff. He identified <br />the alignment as "Alternate Alignment A". <br /> <br />The following persons spoke in favor of Alternate Alignment A: <br /> <br />Mike McLean, President of the Greater Santa Ana Chamber <br />of Commerce, 1326 W. Park Lane <br /> <br />Billy C. Hall, Executive Director of the Santa Ana City <br />Center Association, P.O. Box 1896 <br /> <br />Mr. McLean filed a copy of a resolution of the Executive Commit- <br />tee of the Chamber of Commerce in support of Alternate Align- <br />ment A, after reading it aloud.
