HIRING FREEZE EXEMPTION REQUEST A report prepared by the <br />ASSOCIATE PLANNER & PLANNING Planning Department, <br />TECHNICIANS - AUTHORIZED dated August 15, 1978 <br /> recommended lifting the <br />hiring freeze for the filling of one Associate Planner position <br />and two Planning Technician positions for the department. The <br />hiring freeze was lifted and hiring of one Associate Planner <br />and two Planning Technicians was authorized on motion of Coun- <br />cilman Bricken, seconded by Councilman Ward, carried 7:0 <br />unanimously. CA 50 <br /> <br />HIRING FREEZE EXEMPTION REQUEST A report prepared by L. <br />SENIOR ACCOUNTANT & BUYERS M. Shaffer, Director of <br />AUTHORIZED Finance, dated August 8, <br /> 1978 recommended lifting <br />the hiring freeze for the filling of one Senior Accountant <br />position in the Accounting Division and two Buyer positions in <br />the Purchasing Division of the Finance Department. The hiring <br />freeze was lifted and hiring of one Senior Accountant and two <br />Buyers was authorized on motion of Councilman Garthe, seconded <br />by Councilman Brandt, carried 6:1, with Mayor Evans dissenting. <br /> CA 50 <br /> <br />HIRING FREEZE EXEMPTION REQUEST A report prepared by <br />DEPUTY CITY ATTORNEY Edward J. Cooper, Assistant <br />AUTHORIZED City Attorney, dated <br /> August 14, 1978, recom- <br />mended lifting the hiring freeze for the filling of one Deputy <br />City Attorney position in the City Attorney's Office. The <br />hiring freeze was lifted and hiring of one Deputy City Attorney <br />was authorized on motion of Councilman Bricken, seconded by <br />Councilman Garthe, carried 6:1, with Councilman Yamamoto dissent- <br />ing. CA 50 <br /> <br />HIRING FREEZE EXEMPTION REQUEST A report prepared by <br />GROUNDS MAINTENANCE MAN I & Robert E. Gresham, <br />TREE TRIMMER - AUTHORIZED Recreation and Parks <br /> Department, dated <br />August 14, 1978, recommended lifting the hiring freeze for the <br />filling of two Grounds Maintenance Man I positions (one for <br />North Parks and one for South Parks) and one Tree Trimmer <br />position in the Recreation and Parks Department. The hiring <br />freeze was lifted and hiring of two individuals to fill the <br />Grounds Maintenance Man I positions and one Tree Trimmer was <br />authorized on motion of Councilman Bricken, seconded by Coun- <br />cilman Ward, carried 6:1, with Councilman Yamamoto dissenting. <br /> CA 50 <br /> <br />After voting, Councilman Yamamoto stated that he had voted <br />NO on several of the hiring freeze exemption requests because <br />of his concern about reduced future revenues as a result of <br />the passage of Proposition 13 (Jarvis). <br /> <br />APPROPRIATION ADJUSTMENT NO. 8 Appropriation Adjustment <br />THERMOPLASTIC CROSSWALK MATERIAL No. 8, establishing <br />APPROVED operating accounts for <br /> Project 2065 to install <br />thermoplastic material on all crosswalks with $300,300 funded <br />under Section 151 of the Federal Highway Act of 1976, Federal <br />Aid Safety Program, was approved on motion of Councilman Ward, <br />seconded by Councilman Brandt, carried 7:0 unanimously.
