ORAL COMMUNICATION The Acting City Manager <br />DELEGATE TO LEAGUE CONVENTION reminded Council that <br />APPOINTED a delegate will be <br /> required to attend the <br />League of Cities Convention, September 24 through 26, 1978 in <br />Anaheim~ California. Councilman Brandt was appointed to serve <br />as the Delegate, with Councilman Ward as the Alternate Delegate, <br />on the unanimously carried 7:0 motion of Councilman Ortiz, <br />seconded by Councilman Garthe. CA 148.1 <br /> <br />ORAL COMMUNICATION Councilman Brandt stated <br />BUILDING PERMIT CHECKS that he believed the <br />REFERRED TO STAFF $15.00 fee currently <br /> being charged for members <br />of the public to determine the existence of a building permit <br />was excessive in that the services provided entailed only a <br />brief check of the files and the typing of one letter. He sug- <br />bested that the use of a preprinted form letter might be one <br />method of reducing costs. Council requested Staff to investi- <br />gate possible methods of reducing costs to the public for <br />building permit checks on motion of Councilman Brandt, seconded <br />by Councilman Ward, carried 7:0 unanimously. CA 87 <br /> <br />ORAL COMMUNICATION Councilman Ortiz announced <br />FOREIGN VISITORS that he had represented <br />INCREASED PARTICIPATION URGED the City at the Pan <br /> American Games over the <br />weekend at Santa Ana College, and had found it to be a very <br />satisfying experience. He urged increased participation by <br />City officials in such events, and suggested that there be more <br />communication between the City and sponsoring organizations when <br />guests from foreign countries are involved. CA 151 <br /> <br />ORAL COMMUNICATION Councilman Garthe stated <br />DEDICATION OF PROPERTY TO CITY that he had recently <br /> spoken with a citizen <br /> who believed that he must <br />dedicate a portion of his property adjacent to the curb to the <br />City upon the sale of his home. The Director of Public Works <br />responded that no such dedication is required upon the sale of <br />property, but only in connection with Variances, Conditional <br />Use Permits, and other types of building exceptions. CA 45 <br /> <br />ORAL COMMUNICATION Mayor Evans stated that <br />PLAQUE FOR VIETNAM VETERANS he had met with Supervisor <br /> Anthony regarding plans <br /> for the placement of a <br />plaque honoring Vietnam veterans within the Civic Center area, <br />and that the City may be asked to make a donation for the project <br />at a later date, but that the letter of request on the Council's <br />August 7 Agenda could be tabled for the time being. CA 77.11 <br /> <br />ORAL COMMUNICATION Mayor Evans stated that <br />YARD SALES ON MC FADDEN he had noticed considerable <br /> improvement in the appear- <br /> ance of the yards along <br />McFadden with the movement of garage sales into backyards, and <br />that he had received calls from several residents in the area <br />who were very happy about the improved situation.
