BUILDING IMPLEMENTATION INSPECTION PROCEDURES <br /> <br />The Director of Planning and Development Services presented a video <br />presentation which had been developed for the City's meeting with the <br />Municipal Judges relative to code violations in the City. Councilmember <br />Johnson pointed out that several favorable decisions had occurred with <br />respect to Santa Aha after that meeting, and the City Attorney indicated a <br />need for such a meeting with the judges on an annual basis. <br /> <br />The Director of Planning and Development Services briefly discussed <br />expanded code enforcement and mentioned he had met with the Building <br />Inspection Ordinance Committee members, and would be working with them to <br />improve housing standards within the City. The City Manager indicated <br />that a status report on this program would be provided to the Council in <br />six months. <br /> <br />STATUS REPORTS <br /> <br />Meetin~ With Civic Center Commission <br /> <br />The City Manager reported that the Council would meet on March 26, 1984, <br />to discuss the overall Civic Center area and issues, and that a meeting <br />would be scheduled with the Civic Center Commission subsequent to that <br />Council meeting. <br /> <br />Computers/Telephone <br /> <br />The City Manager indicated that staff was proceeding with a complete <br />evaluation of computer needs and would present its recommendation to the <br />Council at a later date. He also indicated that the proposal process for <br />a City-owned telephone system was not yet complete. Councilmember <br />McGuigan encouraged the Manager to contact other California cities who <br />were already active in this area. <br /> <br />Community Center <br /> <br />The Manager indicated that the community center proposed for the corner of <br />Ross and Santa Ana Boulevard would be an agenda item at the March 26, 1984 <br />meeting. <br /> <br />Santa Ana Rose Parade Float <br /> <br />The Manager requested approval by the Council of a proposed budget for a <br />1985 Rose Parade Float for Santa Ana. He stated that the theme "Spirit of <br />A~erica" was one with which Santa Ana could readily identify. He <br />indicated that he had entered into discussions with the Director of <br />Entertainment at Disneyland regarding a possible joint venture for the <br />float, and that he would be continuing that discussion, as well as <br />pursuing commitment of corporate funds for float design and <br />construction. <br /> <br />CITY COUNCIL MINUTES <br /> <br />74 MARCH 19, 1984 <br /> <br /> <br />
