C. Outdoor Locations: In outdoor locations, raceway shall be rigid galvanized steel <br />(GRS) conduit; entrances shall be threaded; and fittings shall have gasketed covers. <br />Provisions shall be made to drain the fitting or conduit system. Threaded fastening <br />hardware shall be stainless steel. Raceway supports such as hanger rods, clamps, and <br />brackets shall be galvanized. Attachments or welded assemblies shall be galvanized <br />after fabrication. Instruments and control cabinets, and panel enclosures shall be <br />NEMA Type 4. Enclosures shall be mounted 1-inch from walls to provide an air space, <br />unless specifically shown otherwise. Locations that are indoors and 2 feet below grade <br />elevation or which are classified, as damp locations on the Drawings shall have <br />electrical installations that conform to the requirements for outdoor locations. "Damp <br />locations" shall include pipe galleries, tunnels, and basements. All rooms housing liquid <br />handling equipment are also classified as damp locations regardless of grade elevation. <br />D. Corrosive Locations: Corrosive locations shall have stainless steel threaded <br />hardware; all other electrical hardware, fittings, and raceway systems shall be PVC - <br />coated. Raceway supports such as hanger rods, clamps, and brackets shall be <br />stainless steel, PVC -coated, or non-metallic FRP. Unless noted otherwise, electrical <br />enclosures shall be NEMA Type 4X stainless steel or fiberglass. Corrosive locations <br />shall include, but not be limited to, meter vaults and valve vaults. <br />1.7 CLEANUP <br />A. In addition to the requirements of "Cleanup" in Section 01700 - Project Closeout, all <br />parts of the materials and equipment shall be thoroughly cleaned. Exposed parts shall <br />be thoroughly clean of cement, plaster, and other materials. All oil and grease spots <br />shall be removed with a non-flammable cleaning solvent. Such surfaces shall be <br />carefully wiped and all cracks and corners scraped out. Paint touch-up shall be applied <br />to all scratches on panels and cabinets. Electrical cabinets or enclosures shall be <br />vacuum -cleaned before final acceptance. <br />B. During the progress of the work, the CONTRACTOR shall clean the premises and shall <br />leave the premises and all portions of the site free of debris. <br />1.8 RELATED WORK <br />A. Installation of New Equipment in existing Structures: <br />Certain new equipment and device installation are required in existing structures. <br />Under this phase of the work the CONTRACTOR shall be required to remove <br />existing equipment or devices, install new equipment as required by the <br />specifications and drawings, remove existing conductors from existing raceway, <br />and pull new conductors in existing raceway, reconnect existing conductors or <br />furnish and install new conduit and wires as required by the drawings. <br />2. The CONTRACTOR shall visit the site before bidding and carefully examine <br />existing installation so that its proposal will reflect all the work necessary to <br />provide a complete installation so that the resulting installation will function as <br />required by the drawings and specifications.
