C. Galvanized rigid steel (GRS) shall be used on exposed installations in <br />general purpose areas. <br />d. Rigid Schedule 40 PVC shall be used for conduits embedded in concrete <br />slab on grade and above grade. <br />e. Rigid Schedule 40 PVC shall be used for area lighting circuits and may not <br />be concrete encased. <br />f. Galvanized rigid steel shall be used in exposed installations in outdoor <br />areas. <br />2. Exposed Raceways: <br />a. Conduits shall be rigidly supported with clamps, hangers, and Unistrut <br />channels. <br />b. Intervals between supports shall be in accordance with the National Electric <br />Code. <br />C. Conduit Terminations: Empty conduit terminations not in pullboxes shall be plugged. <br />Exposed raceway shall be installed perpendicular or parallel to buildings except where <br />otherwise shown. Conduit shall be terminated with flush couplings at exposed concrete <br />surfaces. Metallic raceways installed below -grade or in outdoor locations and in <br />concrete shall be made up with a conductive waterproof compound applied to threaded <br />joints. Compound shall be Zinc Clads Primer Coatings No. B69A45, HTL-4 by Crouse - <br />Hinds, Kopr Shield by Thomas & Betts, or approved equal. <br />D. Conduit Installations: <br />1. Where a run of concealed PVC conduit becomes exposed, a transition to rigid <br />steel conduit is required. Such transition shall be accomplished by means of a <br />factory elbow or a minimum 3-foot length of rigid steel conduit, either terminating <br />at the exposed concrete surface with a flush coupling. Piercing of concrete walls <br />by non-metallic runs shall be accomplished by means of a short steel nipple <br />terminating with flush couplings. <br />2. Connections shall be made using flexible liquid -tight conduit. Equipment subject <br />to vibration or movement that is normally provided with wiring leads, such as <br />solenoid valves, shall be installed with a cast junction box for the make-up of <br />connections. Flexible conduits shall be as manufactured by American Brass, <br />Cablec, Electroflex, or approved equal. <br />3. Conduit penetrations on walls and concrete structures shall be performed in <br />accordance with the following: <br />a.
