<br />ARTICLE IX <br /> <br />9.0 VACATION <br /> <br />9.1 Pumose. It is the policy of the City to grant employees vacation leave in order to provide <br />them with a break in their regular work schedule and this purpose will be used as a guide in <br />the administration of the provisions of this Article. <br /> <br />9.2 Regular Vacation Period. <br /> <br />A. Regular vacation with pay is granted to each full-time permanent or probationary <br />employee, at the rate of fifteen (I 5) working days for each completed year of service, <br />accrued at the rate often (10) working hours for each completed month of service. <br />Employees hired after August 9, 1979, shall be granted regular vacation at the rate <br />of ten (10) working days for each of his or her first and second completed year of <br />service, accrued at the rate of six and two-thirds (6 2/3) hours for each completed <br />month of service. Thereafter, all such employees shall be granted regular vacation <br />at the rate of fifteen (I 5) working days for each completed year of service accrued at <br />the rate of ten (I 0) working hours for each completed month of service. <br /> <br />B. An employee who has completed less than one year's service during the calendar year <br />shall receive a proportionate fraction in accordance with the amount of service to his <br />or her credit during the year; provided, however, no employee shall be entitled to, or <br />receive payment for, any vacation until he or she has completed six (6) months of <br />continuous service. <br /> <br />C. On or after the first (I ") day of the month following completion of six (6) months of <br />continuous full-time service, an employee may be allowed to take all or a <br />proportionate fraction of his or her earned vacation, subject to scheduling approval <br />of the employee's supervisor. <br /> <br />D. Vacation time off may be taken in increments as small as one-half (112) hour, with <br />fractional usage rounded upward to the next higher multiple of one-half (112). <br /> <br />E. Upon completion oftwo (2) years of continuous service, each employee must take <br />at least five (5) consecutive working days of vacation each year thereafter. <br /> <br />F. Computation of Regular Vacation. <br /> <br />1. In computing regular vacation, each municipal holiday that occurs during the <br />vacation, and that falls on a day which the employee would have worked had <br />he or she not been on vacation, shall be deducted from the computation so <br />that one (I) additional day of regular vacation shall be allowed to the <br />employee unless departmental practice provides some other manner of <br /> <br />38 <br />
