Any "safety- <br />member" bargaining unit member who attains the <br />educational, training and experience qualifications <br />specified below shall be paid an additional 30 salary <br />rate ranges (approximately 15%) above his or her then <br />current base monthly salary step. The criteria for <br />such designation shall be as follows: <br /> <br />1. Completion of at least 120 college semester units <br />(or equivalent quarter units) with major course <br />work in Fire Science or other job-related areas <br />from accredited colleges or universities; and <br /> <br />2. Completion of six optional achievements from the <br />options listed in Subsection D below, with a <br />maximum of two committee assignments and a minimum <br />of one achievement from each of the three different <br />categories (i. e. certificate, duty assignment, and <br />committee assignment). One substitution, as listed <br />in Subsection E below, may be made. <br /> <br />D. Elective Options. <br /> <br />1. Possession of Certificates: <br />· SBFS Firefighter III Certification* <br />. SBFS Driver Operator II Certification <br />. SBFS Fire Officer Certification <br />. SBFS Chief Officer Certification <br />. EMT-P Certification <br />· Haz-Mat Training Certificate <br />· PC 832 Certification, if obtained prior to <br />September 1, 1990 <br />· State Certified Fire Extinguisher Technician, if <br />obtained prior to September 1, 1990 <br />· State or National Recognition as a Subject <br />Matter Expert in a Science area <br />· Other substantially equivalent certificate <br />accepted in writing by the Fire Chief <br /> <br />*Note: An SBFS Firefighter II Certificate may be <br />substituted for the Level III certificate until the SBFS <br />Firefighter III Certificate becomes available, after which <br />time the Level II certificate will no longer be accepted <br />as a substitute. <br /> <br />24 <br />
