<br />2. Specialized Duty Assignments. Completion of two <br />years of service in a specialized departmental duty <br />assignment in such units/programs as: <br /> <br />. Arson Investigation <br />. Emergency Transportation <br />. Fire Prevention <br />. Fire Training <br />. Haz-Mat Team <br />. Paramedic-Firefighter (combination) <br />. Special Administrative Staff Support <br />· Special Non-Staff Assignments (e.g. Breathing <br />Apparatus Specialist, High Pressure Bottle <br />Specialist, Hose Officer, Plot Plan Officer, <br />Small Engine Repairer, Manual of Operations <br />Officer, Reserve Firefighter Coordinator, <br />Paramedic Coordinator, etc.) as specified by the <br />Fire Chief <br />· Other long-term assignment established in <br />writing by the Fire Chief <br /> <br />3. Committee/Professional Assignments. Completion of <br />six months of service as an active participant of <br />an SAFD Committee, such as Apparatus, Joint <br />Apprenticeship, Training, Uniform, Safety, <br />MIS/Computer, Overtime, Equipment Refitting, or <br />similar departmental committee established by the <br />Fire Chief; or completion of six months of service <br />as an Academy Instructor, Engineer Certification <br />Instructor or Grader, CPR Instructor or other <br />subj ect area instructor as determined by the Fire <br />Chief. <br /> <br />E. Substitution Options. <br /> <br />1. Duty Assignment Substitution. An affected employee <br />who, during the term of this Agreement, is <br />unsuccessful in securing an appointment to one of <br />the Specialized Duty Assignments specified in <br />Subsection D2 after having formally applied for <br />each and every such assignment he or she has not <br />already completed may substitute an additional <br />different certificate from Subsection D1 above the <br />number of such certificates required for the <br />particular incentive level the employee is <br />pursuing. <br /> <br />25 <br />
