<br />recommendation of the Fire Chief and the approval <br />of the City Manager. Procedure for such reduction <br />shall follow the same procedure for merit <br />advancement in Subsection 4.7 Paragraph (B) (1) <br />above, and such officer or employee may be <br />considered for readvancement under the same <br />provisions as contained in Subsection 4.7, <br />Paragraph (B) (2) above. <br /> <br />4.8 Promotional Salary Advancement. <br /> <br />A. Fire Management Group A Classes: When an employee in a <br />Fire Management Group A class is promoted to a position <br />in a higher classification from a position in a lower <br />classification in the same occupational career ladder, <br />he or she shall be reassigned to the lowest step in <br />the appropriate salary rate range for the higher <br />classification; provided, however, that if the base <br />salary step currently being paid such employee is <br />already equal to or higher than this step, he or she <br />shall be placed in the lowest step in the appropriate <br />salary rate range as will grant that employee an <br />increase of at least five percent (5%) over his or her <br />current base salary step exclusive of any pay additive <br />or additives such as assignment pay, special skill pay <br />or the like. <br /> <br />B. Fire Management Group B Classes: When an employee in a <br />Fire Management Group B class is promoted to a position <br />in a higher classification from a position in a lower <br />classification in the same occupational career ladder, <br />he or she shall be reassigned to the lowest step in the <br />appropriate salary rate range for the higher <br />classification; provided, however, that if the base <br />salary step currently being paid such employee is <br />already equal to or higher than this step, he or she <br />shall be placed in the lowest step in the appropriate <br />salary rate range as will grant that employee an <br />increase of at least five percent (5%) over his or her <br />current base salary step exclusive of any pay additive <br />or additives such assignment pay, special skill payor <br />the like. <br /> <br />16 <br />
