<br />Due to recent program growth, TSJ implemented a student tracking system which monitors <br />student attendance, goal setting and achievement, educational assessment and progress, as well <br />as assisting with recruitment and retention efforts, This information helps staff target students in <br />danger of dropping out of educational or job training programs, In addition, TSJ regularly tracks <br />the following data to measure program effectiveness: <br />. Number of youth recruited for vocational programs, <br />. Number of youth who complete courses ofslUdy. <br />. Attendance and punctuality rate for youth, <br />. Number of youth who enroll in and complete high school. <br />. Number of youth employed after completion of the program, <br />. Number of apprentices employed 60, 90, 180, 365 days after job placement. <br />. Number of apprentices previously incarcerated who remain free of violent or drug related <br />cnmes, <br /> <br />Experience <br />TSJ serves the educational and job-training needs of the undereducated and unemployed out-of- <br />school youth population of Santa Ana who have fallen through the cracks of traditional <br />educational systems, TSJ accomplishes this by providing a comprehensive package of services <br />including: <br /> <br />1, Provides a high school diploma program for out-of-school. Nearly 500 youth have <br />successfully completed their secondary education since 1998, <br />2. Assistance with transition into community college, A transition specialist from the Santa <br />Ana College works directly with students with completing the necessary application, <br />registration, and financial aid forms, Students that take advantage ofthis resource also <br />receive priority registration for their first semester within the community college district. <br />3, In conjunction with ROP, TSJ offers two levels of Convalescent Nurses Training (first <br />level and acute care) which provides 18 weeks of classroom and clinical instruction. <br />Students who complete this training are eligible for certification by the State of <br />California. <br />4, A program focused on developing young leaders - Personal Empowerment Program <br />(PEP) _ invites students to participate in a 7 -week course addressing personal leadership, <br />teambuilding, networking, public speaking, goal setting, and personal empowerment. <br />This program is not currently being offered, <br />5. Monthly bus passes and childcare vouchers are available to students who maintain an <br />attendance rate of 90% and attendance. <br />6, All TSJ students 18-28 years of ages are assigned to an adult mentor on staff. Adult <br />mentors assist students with goal setting and work as an advocate for the student. <br />Mentors meet weekly with students and track ongoing progress. <br />7. Through an extensive Life Skills program, TSJ offers education on topics such as: <br />parenting skills, physical abuse, drug & alcohol abuse, financial matters, anger <br />management, staying crime free, job preparation, interviewing, resume writing, and many <br />other issues. <br />8. Community Court Program - Judge Lindley with the Superior Court of Orange County <br />hold court proceeds on a monthly basis at the TSJ facility located at 810 N, Broadway. <br /> <br />8 <br />
