General Manager and are empowered basic authority to ensure the success of the operation.
2. "T" Decals
The " T " decal system is the primary means in which to assure of compliance with this RFP
in the matter of compliance with unauthorized taxi driver visitors. " T " decals allow easy
identification of authorized drivers from our company and their right to provide service at
The Depot. Decals are affixed by the General Manager. The decal system is supplemented
by the Digital Dispatch System, GPS monitoring system.
3. Digital Dispatch System as it relates to this RFP
The top three taxi companies all use an impressive computer dispatch system to work with
the high volume of calls in Orange County. A White and Yellow Cab Inc. uses Digital Dis-
patch Systems (DDS) Taxitrack software in unison with advanced GPS positioning. Vehicle
Mobile Data Terminals complement the system. MDT's are easy to use and offer communi-
cation capabilities to all drivers. DDS will be used to maintain the taxi lines at the required
levels and hours of operation. Key abilities of the system as they relate to The Depot follow
and afterwards, a general overview of capabilities.
Coverage Levels
Strategic replenishment of the taxi stand is key to our proposal. We are able to easily meet
and exceed requirements for taxi service at The Depot. Primary driver taxis will be stationed
from 5 AM to 12 Midnight on a daily basis. Peak periods of 6 AM to 9 AM and 3 PM to 7
PM, Monday through Friday will have a minimum of three taxis, with four being the pre-
ferred service level.
Locational Control
DDS uses GPS based dispatching to not only dispatch calls to the closest logged in or
booked in taxi, but to ensure a lily control at stands and zones. Drivers line up using
their MDT to book into zones. GPS based zones and stands mean that drivers may check
into a zone or stand only if they are actually located within the geographic parameters of the
zone or stand. If a driver is not in the zone or stand, their attempt to book in will be rejected.
Likewise, if drivers leave a stand or zone, their position is also rejected. Zones are typically
a square mile in area and stands are the actual parking areas. The DDS routinely updates
information every 15 seconds or when drivers initiate any activity, such as turning on the
meter or sending a message. GPS not only shows exact locations, but validates the driv-
ers position in a zone or stand.
The Depot Stand Zone
Primary drivers for The Depot are able to book into The Depot Stand Zone when in line at
the taxi stand. This special zone parallels what we do in the City of Anaheim for the Ana-
heim Hilton, Convention Center, Anaheim Marriott, Disneyland, Disneyland Hotel, Grand
California Hotel, Edison Field, Anaheim Amtrak, and Arrowhead Pond. The Depot stand
zone regulates the number of taxis in line at the taxi stand.
