As the service provider for this program, CHCADA/La Familia will pertorm
the following steps in the delivery of services to the youth participants:
Outreach/Recruitment - as previously described in detail in Section LC.
GOALS/OBJECTIVES AND PERFORMANCE LEVELS
o Eligibility Determination -once recruited, potential participants are then
screened to ensure that they meet the WIA eligibility requirements as set forth in
the RFP. Prospective participants who meet the requirements and are accepted
into the FUERZAS UNIDAS program are subsequently taken through an
Intake/Assessment process, as previously described, with the Coordinator
and/or Case Manager to determine the level of need so that an Individual
Service Plan is developed for each participant and services may be provided.
o Referrals -are provided to appropriate Resources as required (i.e., nutrition and
health; psychological counseling and other human resources).
Task 3: Implement Program
CHCADA/La Familia's program services include primary group
counseling, mentoring, tutoring, leadership development, support services,
employment readiness support intensive follow-up, and other services through
FUERZAS UNIDAS at our Santa Ana location. The general characteristics of our
program are as listed in Figure 7 below.
• CHCADA will schedule at least 300 minute-per-day for the youth to participate in a
training program through the Youth Network and/or an educational program (i.e.,
Taller San Jose, OCCC, etc. );
• CHCADA will utilize unique pedagogies that nevertheless reflect the program's
employment focus. For example, for some youth we may use an arts and drama
focus, i.e., the youth may be asked to stage a psychodrama that highlights how to
avoid gang involvement and/or prepare posters and artwork that reveals positive
aspects of their family relationships. Likewise, youth may be asked to write a short
story about the dangers of gang involvement.
CHCADA will meet the counseling and leadership development
requirements by providing two-hour group sessions/mini courses on key topics.
Each group session/mini course will have no more than 15 participants.
CHCADA's curriculum for the program includes thirteen (13) courses -ten (10)
core courses and three (3) specialized courses that will have relevance for the
selected youth. Figure 8 below lists the group counseling/mini courses that are
offered.
Figure 8: Program Requirements -Group Sessions/Mini Cou
THE 1 ~ CORE GROUP COUNSELING SESSIONS/MINI COURSES ARE:
19
