WORK PLAN
PROJECT APPROACH
Our basic approach to the project will be to provide the City with an experienced, knowledgeable and
enthusiastic staff dedicated to providing the level of service the City desires. We understand that
"service" to the City includes: quality work product; communication/responsiveness; and timely
completion, economical and within budget. Tetra Tech is committed to providing "service" to the
City that will meet or exceed your expectations. Our strength lies in the qualifications of our team
members and our commitment of our firm. Our recent completion of numerous projects with similar
assignments yields an available staff with the experience necessary to complete this project on time
and within budget.
Our approach to this project includes a "teamwork and partnering"' approach with the City. We are
hired for our resources, expertise, independent thought, technical background and problem solving
abilities. We also recognize that the City possesses these same attributes of past experiences,
knowledge and innovative ideas. Therefore, we understand that it is imperative to work closely with
the City's 'staff to ensure a successful project. Tetra Tech is adept at incorporating client ideas and
direction to the project.
KEY ISSUES
Tetra Tech's previous experience will help the City to successfully address the following key issues:
• Phasing of construction to minimize shut -down of customers;
• Fire hydrant location; and
• Identify easement alternatives.
TYPICAL SCOPE OF WORK
In preparation for this project, we have -reviewed the "Typical Scope of Work" (Exhibit B) contained
in your Request for Proposal. We have found the scope of work presented in the RFP to be
comprehensive and due to the proposal space limitations, we have included herein only items of the
scope with which we have comments on, additions to and/or want to expand.
Task No.1.4 - Potholing
Typically, Tetita Tech has not included potholing during design for water main replacement projects
(unless a profile of the water main is required). Based on our experience, the dipping of manholes,
catch basins and valves has provided the necessary information for the design'. We agree that utility
potholing is required for all sewer main replacement projects.
Task No.1.5 — Plans and Specifications
Tetra Tech will prepare the plans using AutoCAD. Prior to final submittal to the City, the plans will
be converted to Micro Station V8 format.
CITY OF SANTA ANA TETRA TECH, INC.
On -Call Engineef ina for Water and Server Main Improvements 4
