Pnor to the development of the <br />ISP, a vvntten '"pre-test" is administered to students to detennine competency and <br />knowledge of the given subject matter. A comprehensive "post-test" is administered to <br />students at the end of the l2-week program The result provides a simple and effective <br />method of evaluatmg progress, knowledge retention and general overall progress <br /> <br />Case Management Subscribing to a "holistic" approach, Project RYTMO staff uses case <br />management to erase the barners to success that face our participants Hohstic case <br />management is working with all aspects of the participant physical, social, mental, and <br />developmental Case management, specifically, includes counseling, developing a career <br />goal. tutoring, mentoring, and advocacy - anything that assists the participant in achieving <br />self-sufficiency. Project RYTMO staff uses a variety of resources and referrals to aid in <br />the case management process It is truly a team effort Case management is recorded <br />through case notes, fue Individual Service Plan (ISP), and MIS paperw{\rk Case Managers <br />determine enrollment dates based on the eligibility approval date Consequently, it is at <br />that time that services begin. Moreover, case managers also provide student/parent <br />orientation, personal and career assessment. as well as matching them with a compatible <br />adult mentor. <br /> <br />Program Services / Parent Involvement: Project RYTM.O encourages youth to <br />express their creativity through the vehicle of music. The design of the program aims to <br />empower, enlighten and promote self-sufficiency in scholastic achievement and in a <br />professional artistic environment The program model is a 12-week course including a total <br />of 12-monfus of adult mentoring. During the l2-week occupational training period, students <br />will be exposed to WlA work-related agencies that fonn part of the W/O/RIK Center, in <br />addition to special activities, training, and resources These agencies will provide services <br />for youth who meet their own program criteria, creating a consistent interaction of mutual <br />services to youth. Classes meet after school, three times per week The course is designed <br />for low income at-risk/adjudicated youth between the ages of14-21, who demonstrate one <br />or more of the following characteristics: skill/background on a musical instrument, <br />compositional/lyrical and/or vocal ability; technical/computer interest/ability, a high <br />demonstration of interest for music and/or experience in the field of music technology, and <br />willingness/desire to commit to the program schedule, guidelines, and mentoring design. <br /> <br />Classes are held in a professional recording studio environment providing a creative learning <br />experience to students wishing to learn more about all aspects of commercial music <br />technology. All course curriculums adhere to fue State of California Board of Education <br />Standards. Curriculum topics include: History o(Western MUSIC, Roots of Ja~~. BaSIC MUSIC <br />Theor)', CommerCial Song)o1'ritmg, CopynghtTubhshmg, and the Busmess o(Music. <br />Special emphasis is placed upon instruction in music industry software programs, including <br />Reason and ProT ools. Upon graduation, students will receive a Certificate of Completion, <br />which will enhance their work resmnes, and allow students to participate in additional <br />services provided by Project RYTMO and the W /O/RIK Center. In addition, parents are <br />kept up to date on their youth's progress They are also invited to celebrate their youth's <br /> <br />J.C <br />
