with sharp blades to provide a smooth, even cut without tearing of <br />the leaf blades. <br />a Turf shall only be mowed after two (2) consecutive non-watering <br />days and/or as directed by the Director. <br />d. Any and all signs found on the Medians shall be removed, including <br />but not limited to political, garage sale, lost and found, etc. <br />2) Edging and Detailing <br />a. All turf shall be edged adjacent to all improved surfaces and, where <br />no improved surface exists, turf edges shall be maintained as if the <br />turf area abuts a shrub bed or property line. Edging and detailing <br />shall be performed weekly, or more frequently if desired by the <br />Director. Following each edging, all edging debris shall be <br />removed. <br />b. All turf growing adjacent to irrigation hardware, tree trunks, or any <br />other landscape amenity shall be neatly detailed by string trimmer <br />and/or chemicals to twelve (12) inches in all directions of said <br />objects. If chemical detailing is performed, the Contractor shall use <br />the string trimmer to remove the treated turf within one (1) week <br />after symptoms of phototoxicity become recognizable. <br />c. Any damage, as determined by the Director, caused to irrigation <br />components, sprinklers, valves, etc., or plant material by edging <br />equipment and/or mowers shall be replaced by the Contractor at <br />Contractor's expense. <br />3) Fertilization <br />a. All turf azeas shall be fertilized using a complete or approved <br />fertilizer (such as 16-6-8 Turf Supreme) a minimum of four (4) times <br />per year. The rate of application shall be one (1) pound of actual <br />nitrogen per 1,000 square feet. The Director may request proof of <br />fertilizer application in the form of empty fertilizer bags. Advanced <br />notice shall be given the Director prior to performing this task. <br />4) Watering <br />a. Turf areas shall be deeply watered as required by weather conditions <br />to provide adequate moisture for optimum growth. At no time shall <br />turf areas be allowed to show a lack of fresh green color or a loss of <br />resilience due to lack of water. <br />b. Wherever or at any time that an irrigation system is damaged, fails <br />or does not adequately cover the turf area in which it is installed, the <br />16 <br />
