<br />b. If the Department Head does not support the employee's request, <br />but agrees that some of the duties and/or responsibilities being <br />performed by the employee are those of a higher level City <br />classification, he or she can do the following: <br /> <br />I. Return the employee to performance of the duties and/or <br />responsibilities of their proper classification. <br /> <br />2. Eliminate the higher duties and/or responsibilities being <br />performed by the employee, for which the City has agreed <br />are those for which it shall provide higher compensation. <br /> <br />B. Any employee request for classification review approved by the Department Head <br />shall be forwarded to the Executive Director of Personnel Services. The <br />Executive Director of Personnel Services shall confirm receipt of the request in <br />writing to the employee. Within sixty (60) days of receipt of the request, the <br />Executive Director of Personnel Services shall notify the employee and <br />Department Head of the decision as to whether a study will be conducted. If the <br />Executive Director of Personnel Services determines that a study is appropriate, <br />the Executive Director of Personnel Services shall so notify the employee and the <br />Department Head in writing and shall provide the employee and Department <br />Head with an approximate start date for the study. <br /> <br />C. All determinations of the Department Head and the Executive Director of <br />Personnel Services are final. <br /> <br />D. All studies and study findings shall reqUire City Manager approval before <br />proceeding. <br /> <br />E. All recommendations resulting from study findings require the approval of the <br />City Council and shall be implemented in accordance with the City's Civil <br />Service rules. <br /> <br />ARTICLE V <br /> <br />5.0 ASSIGNMENT & OTHER SPECIAL PAY ADDITIVES <br /> <br />5.1 Assignment Pav Differential. <br /> <br />Assignment pay differentials, as listed herein and throughout the contract, shall, in each <br />case, be added individually and separately to the employee's base salary. In no event <br />shall one assignment pay differential be added to the employee's base salary as a basis <br />for the calculation of an additional pay differential. <br /> <br />A. Incumbents in the classifications of Senior Office Assistant, Secretary or <br />Executive Secretary who are assigned by a Department Head, with the prior <br />approval of the City Manager, to a position requiring the ability to take dictation <br />at a rate of 70 words per minute or better on a regular basis or as an essential or <br />integral element of the work ofthe position, shall be paid a monthly differential of <br /> <br />9 <br />
