QJ qS W LO Brldge Structural Design Serdces V additional sheets will be provided as necessary for General Notes, Master List of Construction Notes, Utility Contacts, Abbreviations, and Legends. 3.2 Typical Sections — Typical sections for all roadway improvements will be provided. 3.3 Disposition Plans — Plans will be prepared at 20 scale to depict all existing features and identify the protection, relocation or removal of those items. 3.4 Street Improvement Plans - Prepare roadway plan and profile sheets at scales of 1 "=20' horizontal and 1"-2'vertical for First Street, from approximately 350' west of the bridge to 450' east of the bridge. Each plan will identify all items to be constructed, existing and proposed centerline and top of curb elevations, utilities, and all applicable notes. 3.5 Construction Details — Details will be provided at an adequate scale to clearly depict the particular items of construction. This will include any on-site reconstruction necessary to join the proposed roadway grades, reestablishment of existing private property improvements, and the realignment of the access roads to the river for maintenance purposes. 3.6 Traffic Signing & Striping — Plans will be prepared at 1 "�40% double -stacked for Bristol Street from McFadden to First Street for all proposed signage and striping, along with any existing signs to remain and striping to be joined. 3.7 Construction Staging & Traffic Handling— Schematic drawings will be provided which reflect the sequence of work on the project, delineating the items of work within each phase, and the required traffic control for each phase of work. 3.8 Retaining Walls — Plan, profiles, and details will be provided for the proposed retaining walls located only in the northeast quadrant of the project. It is assumed that this will be a Caltrans Standard Type 1 cantilever concrete retaining wall. 3.9 Planting & Irrigation Plans — Team member, Tatsumi will prepare 1 "=20' scale plans for the planting & irrigation located on the graded slopes and within the river right-of- way adjacent to the maintenance road. Planting plans will indicate location, quantity, size and species of proposed plant materials. Irrigation plans will be prepared, matching the existing equipment and systems currently in use. Specific equipment locations, sizes and quantities will be designated. Construction details will be provided for planting/irrigation. 3.10 Bridge Design - The design phase will commence following approval of the Type Selection Report and completion of critical elements of the environmental process. This phase incorporates production of the design and contract documents for the bridge. All structural analysis DMJM HARRIS AECOM and component design will be completed in the Unchecked Details (60%) stage of design. All work will be in accordance with Caltrans bridge design guidelines and as stipulated in Section IV Statement'of Work in the RFP documents. 3.11 Independent Check - This task consists of Quality Control of the bridge design plans. The 60% plans will be furnished to the Independent Checker, tasked with independently developing calculations for all components and details and checking their presentation on the plans. If discrepancies are found, the checker and the designer will meet to compare their work and determine whether corrections are required. The checker will deliver a red -lined set of plans to the designer and the plans will be updated accordingly. Based on the final plans, two sets of quantity calculations will be developed. These original and check quantity calculations will agree within the limits specified for individual items in the Caltrans Bridge Design Aids. 3.12 Cost Estimates — Prepare a construction cost estimate with quantities, unit prices and total prices of each bid item. The cost estimate and backup calculations will be prepared using imperial units and an updated cost estimate will be submitted to the City at each submittal milestone. 3.13 Specifications — Prepare imperial project specifications including special provisions in accordance with City requirements and boilerplate, the 2006 edition of the Green Book, and the Caltrans Standard Specifications for traffic and structural related items. Formatting will match City's requirements. 3.14 Cross Sections — Pavement cross sections will be provided at 50' o.c. on First Street, with a horizontal scale of 1 "=20' and vertical scale of 1 "=2'. These will be prepared so the City may include these in the bid documents, if so desired. Task 4 — Environmental Documents & Permit Compliance 4.1 Preliminary Environmental Study (PES): This task includes preparation of the Draft and Final PES based on the data provided by the City and information gathered during a site visit. The PES will be prepared per the requirements of Chapter 6 of the Caltrans Local Assistance Procedures Manual (LAPM) and the Caltrans Standard Environmental Reference web page. The completed PES form will include both the PES Checklist (Parts A and B) and typed responses to the checklist questions to support the conclusions in the PES. The DMJM Hams team will prepare the final PES based on comments from the field meeting (if any) and submit the Draft Final PES to the City and Caltrans for review. Following Caltrans review, we will revise the PES per Caltrans comments and submit the PES to Caltrans for signature and approval.
