COUNCIL COMMENTS <br /> <br />directed the Clerk of the Council to place the removal of Ward 1 Board and Commission <br />members on the next Council agenda and expressed his intention to ask the City Council to <br />consider this request on a continual basis. <br /> <br />Councilmember Bist: <br />· reported she had enjoyed a preview tour of the Discovery Science Center recently and <br /> suggested that residents visit the Center during the "open houses" scheduled between <br /> December 19 - January 31; and <br />· thanked the organizers of the 3rs aimual Wilshire Square Neighborhood Association concert <br /> for a wonderful event. <br /> <br />Mayor Pro Tem Lutz: <br />· reported he recently toured the Ronald Reagan Federal Courthouse, was greatly impressed by <br /> the facility, and suggested individuals or organizations interested in contributing to the <br /> Courthouse Time Capsule to contact Tim Rush at 547-6558; <br />· congratulated the Santa Ana Historical Preservation Society on its successful Victorian <br /> Holiday Home Tour; <br />· announced that he enjoyed the Santora Building's "Arts Orange County" open house; <br />· invited everyone to the December 9 Washington Square Neighborhood Holiday Party, <br /> explaining an unwrapped toy or canned goods is the only entry requirement; <br />· reported the City's Arts Coordinator Jim Gilliam has 300 free tickets to a Christmas Concert <br /> to be held in the Santa Aha High School Auditorium at 10:30 A.M. on December 19, and <br /> encouraged anyone interested to contact Gilliam at 571-4229; <br />· noted the William Eldridge Park was dedicated last weekend with a special program <br /> honoring this local World War II war hero; <br />· commended the contributors to Santa Anita Park "Tot Lot" opened last weekend; and <br />· wished everyone Happy Holidays! <br /> <br />Councilmember McGuigan: <br />· recognized Florence Leach in the audience and sent regards to her husband Miles Leach, one <br /> of Santa Ana's remaining "Pearl Harbor" survivors; <br />· reported her attendance at the National League of Cities Annual Conference last week and <br /> intent to share ideas and program information with her Council colleagues; and <br />· wished everyone a safe and happy Holiday Season. <br /> <br />Councilmember Christy: <br />· thanked everyone for their support of her successful election campaign, expressed pleasure <br /> with being a member of the City Council, and stated she always has an "open door"; <br />· offered kudos to Recreation and Community Services staff members, particularly Ron Ono <br /> and Rip Ribble, for their efforts in the creation and dedication of the William Eldridge Park; <br />· encouraged attendance at performances of the Aman International Dance group that had <br /> recently relocated from Los Angeles to Santa Ana; and <br />· wished everyone Happy Holidays. <br /> <br />CITY COUNCIL MINUTES 350 DECEMBER 7, 1998 <br /> <br /> <br />
